tried my hand on Lake Monroe
I thought that I would get to the lake early this morning. I made it to the ramp by first light and found that I was 5th in line to launch. But it went quickly and I was on the water in no time.
The water was high but the ramp was open.It must be at least a good 5 to 6 feet above normal. I slowly motored out a way from the dock and shut down the motor and set up the rods. From here on it was trolling motor only.
I was only a few yards from the ramp and already I was in 12 feet of water. I headed out to the sign line to make a pass, but before I got there a rod went off. Nice way to start the day. Skunk off - first fish in the live well.
I made the turn to head back when it started to rain. Not hard and I could see clear sky a way off. I put on the rain jacket and made the next pass.
The rod goes off again. The rain didn't last long and I was back in the grove. Added a few more to the well.
The the wind picked up and changed direction. I lookup and saw nothing but dark clouds. Time to pull and run. It started raining as I left the lot.
I ended the morning with 6 fish, 4 over 12 inches. Not bad for the first trip of the season.
