Solo Adventure (Cuz it's not Fishing, with me it's an ADVENTURE)
So went to local lake today.
Was going to tear up the Crappie, and put on only a performance befitting the Co Champ.
What I got was anything but..........
With the rods all set, and speed adjusted, i was set to put on the display.........
First rod goes off, and as I grab it, the boat starts spinning............
No I wasn't high on drugs, nor was I over the legal limit of alcohol. More importantly, I wasn't sitting on my remote (I have been known to do that occasionally).
I look the front and the Minnkota had some how become detached, and was hanging over the side of the boat, about to go under.
Faster than a a speeding Bullet, I flew to the front, and was able to save it from going submerged. By chance the thing that allowed that was the lanyard I had made for lifting he head of the motor.
Once back on the boat, and emergency anchor was thrown. Not that there was any danger, but the wind had me headed towards some docks.
After a few minutes the realization that the mother had no power.
I packed everything up and drive home.
Checked all fuses, then removed the motor. Tore it apart until I was at its brains.
And it was a Polish moment when I saw the wire that had been disconnected from the pull of the wires. I thought, gee, it's allot like me, few loose wires.

You can see the gold contact not touching anything.
I got lucky, plugged it all back in, assembled, and tested.
Only thing I can think of is the clevis pin dislodged from vibration.
There is a security locking slot, that i usually lock when I'm worried about theft (Detroit River) but when I am home at local lakes I don't use the lock.
The lock would have saved me that pain, so I'm looking to get a S Binder Clip I use for key chains, but the 100# version to use when locking is not needed for theft.
Oh, the fish I had, it was still on the line, 13 inch striped carp.
Couldn't help but think it was a omen to "BE IN YOUR TREESTAND".......... lol
I got lucky, it was a disconnected wire, and some learning of disassemble and reassemble of the Ipilot.
Boats not moving until I find that S Binder Clip..........
& that was my adventure..........
PS, check your cotter pins and clevis pins.......
Don't try to be like me........ it's flattering really, but Jerry, Rich, only I am this good looking.
