I broke a midsection for one of the 18 foot green Wally Marshall poles on a huge far at Lake Ferguson last week.
Anyone got one laying around?

You mean there are gar in Ferguson.....:Rofl
Seriously, they are far. When you realize what it is on the other end, it comes out like this: that's a "f £÷&@#$ gar" and when you hear it, it all comes out like "far". Lol

Then things are serious guys, I've turned some big cats with these poles and never thought I'd break one, folded like a birthday card!

I fished Ferguson during the Crappie Masters National, and there are some dandies in there. When those bigguns finally feel the hook and hit the after burner I don't know if a 7' heavy action flipping stick would turn them. Fortunately for me, the minnow rigs failed before the rod.
Cranking was bad enough, can't imagine the mess they could have made pushing minners.
We were pushing using 3 oz weights, gar were hitting the weight, and getting the braid between the weight and the crank in their teeth.

Me and Trypman fished a lake just like that in tenessee last week and those gar were terrible. They LOVED a pink arkie!! Caught one nice crappie and no telling how many gar. How do you wade through them to get to the crappie? I couldn't imagine trying to hold a tournament in a place like that.
We lost 5 PICO cranks to gar on 2 trips last week on KY Lake. They are interesting to watch when they launch like a tarpon. A couple of them we never saw but it was obvious when the line screamed off the spool for a few feet then POW.
Most of the time we catch crappie and far together.
