Good job guys
And had a great lesson on planner boards. There's something about watching a off shore tackle r12 planner board disappear. Got to love it.

What advantage did planner boards provide for this trip? Depth control, distance from boat, ? Really interested in this technique, was thinking of trying it this upcoming spring but would love to hear what advantages planners have over long line trolling or tightlining at this time of year. Oh great catch, would love to make it to that lake someday.
Thanks,
Roy
I really can't explain the difference or benefit it was my first time trying it. What I learned so far you can run the same size rods so you can use shorter rods and get a lot further away from the boat. Hope someone with more experience can help you out. But it was a blast watching a 12 inch planner board go out of sight the crappie in Mississippi are something. And I didn't break a single rod this trip lol

Man that was a great trip.. Mike tried everything he could to break every rod in the boat..Them planer boards flat explode when a 2.4lb crappie hammers down on the crank bait..
Very nice, indeed!!
