Anybody doing any good pulling jigs yet? Bout time for them to move up in the coves a little if it will ever cool off. Wondered if anyone has had much luck yet.

I caught over 40 Sunday pulling jigs in 12' of water.
That's good stuff, GoodStuff

That is what I like to hear. I tried yesterday afternoon, but too windy on Tillery. I pulled cranks instead for about an hour and half. Only caught 2, but one was a monster and my daughter got to catch it. Pushed 2 lbs.
Soon, I hope!
If I can get out of work at a decent time, may try it tonight. Wind not quite as bad. Marked tons of bait in 10 to 18 fow in the two coves we went in.
After Plan A didn't work yesterday I drug some around. Plan A was throwing jigs around bait schools, bass wouldn't leave it alone to get to Crappie. Once started trolling caught a few small ones, seemed to be pecking it more than hitting.

I've caught nice crappie all summer long longlining but I think now the way these fish feeding on shad tight lining is the way to go for me. I just watch my garmin for shad and the fish will be around or under them. At what ever depth they are at I just set my minnow or jug or both to that depth and hang on, they will be there. Just my 2 cents. Trained by Freddie Sinclair!
Fishing from pontoon and I mounted two of Gene's spyderloks on the back. I do a little striper and catfishing as well so most out of the back. I just received a couple of pedistals to try to mount the spyderloks on the front to do a little tight lining. About all I can do now is ling line or pull cranks for crappie. going to high rock to try fishing a few docks Saturday am since they have been killing them there. That may be fun in a pontoon as well. lol.
Any tips for pulling jigs? (Size of jig head, how far to throw out, etc)

See this thread on here. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/south...ing-questions/
After doing it awhile, you will learn quickly that all the variables involved (boat speed, length of line out, weight of lure, ability to interpret sonar, etc.) make a huge difference in your success.
I suggest you start with 1/16 oz jig/grub combo at 1mph with a full cast behind the boat. That will put you in the 6-7 foot deep range from my experience. If the fish are deeper, go heavier, longer, slower. If shallower just the opposite. ALWAYS troll over the fish. Never under.
Practice makes you better, never perfect!
I hope this helps you get started.

I usually pull 1/8 just because I know about what depth they are running at different speeds. I love roadrunners or ponyheads, but still pull a lot of just plain old round head jigs. I like curly tails best. The arkie little fishes are very good in yellow and white. The bobby garlands and the mr. crappies are all also good. I like pink, orange, green and white and combos of these, but have probably 100 colors. I put out 8 rods -outside 16 footers, next 12 footers, next 8 footers and two 4 footers next to motor. Place rod tips right off water. One full cast and place in rod holders (I use spyder loks -best out there). I pull from about 1 mph down to .6 mph depending on what depth I am marking fish. Then just hang on.
