This has happened 4 times in the past month at Smithville! Messed with this one for at least 5 minutes. He would come up and take the whole 8.5" fish and take off, then let go and do it again.

Pretty dang cool. I hope I'm not the only one. But what kind of fish is coming up to it
Wow awesome pic...reminds me when I was a Lake Fork and a 10 plus bass chased my crappie around the boat
I was Actually with a guy on Lake Viking and same thing only the Bass finally bit the crappie and the crappie jig was hooked inside the top of the mouth of a 6 1/2 pound bass when he landed it. Not sure where the crappie went?
Maybe I should be bass fishing on Smithville.

Awesome pic!
Wow! how big was the bass and what part of the lake was it? I have never seen that before in my life.
Wow, great picture. Shows what size bait you need to cast for those large bass.
It was near LP docks. I'm guessing that one was around 6lbs. The week prior, I had one that was pushing double digits take the crappie and head deep! I had power pro on and fought the sucker for 5 minutes! Typically the just let go but that one just kept making runs! I thought maybe the jig popped out the crappie and hooked the bass. Went to get the net and she opened her mouth and just let go! I wanted to cry! Took the hook out of the crappie and it swam off! One lucky crappie! Lol
FUN we did that in canada a lot with the Pike and they would grab em!
when my boy was little used to fish our farm, at that time, lake and we had big BG beds and I would hook big bull then hand it off to the son to play with, once a big bass came up and inhaled BG and then he tussled with it for 5 minutes but with a lil help did land it and it just refused to let go, wasn't hooked. Have a great treasured pic of us with it and then let bass go which my friend couldn't believe but we caught those size all the time so no biggee. BG's sides were crushed tho and we ate him.
