I don't know of any. The DNR has some fields around the state. You can search their site to find them.

Thx Stump. The public fields are only open Saturdays. With one or 2 allowing a Weds hunt.
Not sure where you are but the fields near Sumter in Manchester SF are open in 2nd and 3rd season anytime, check the regs closely tho, they can be tricky, page 102 in the new book. GL
Pay fields are about gone! Dove shoots now are done by clubs who pay for the field to be planted and cut for their pleasure at a high price. It's almost like deer hunting all clubs unless you own property. People pay up to $1200 for hunting doves and deer around here! Boyd's farms has about 5000 doves the first month of the season. No memberships available unless you got friends in high places. :Rofl Hope you find something. Holler out if you do! :highfive
5000 the 1st season?! I need to join up there! I could be a long lost cousin.:biggrin
I hear this is a hoot of a time
They got them out the you know what. Sunflower and millet! These farm fields are so big the birds don't move to far from where they are. Plenty of trees to sit in on the property until they ready to eat. I'd have to have more than two boxes of shell to get my 15 birds!:Rofl I wouldn't be able to concentrate on one bird.:banghead When I do go, I head out to Worth Mountain WMA. More hunters than birds but it is still fun. We use the Mojo's until to many people gather around us.:Rofl
Tim, it is a good time if the conditions are right!:twocents
Hey BigDawgg nothing better than watching a good trained bird dog in action besides crappie fishing that is. Tim they use to have a field close to you where you pay 10 or $20 for the day, saturday only though. I've hunted it a couple of times and had plenty of birds. If you want I can ask a buddy if he can find out if they still have it? Just let me know.
I appreciate it mark, but no shotgun, only rifles right now. I used to bird hunt and loved it, not sure i could hit a barn right now.
$1200....15 birds?!? Think I'll just fish.
In my area of Iredell County NC up to about 3 years ago I know of a couple places you could pay $50-100 per day depending on what the owner wanted to charge. There were a lot of people going that route. This was mostly on opening day and a day or 2 after. Now most of those fields aren't planted in corn, nor anything to attract doves, or they cut the fields way too soon. There is a preserve near me run by 2 brothers that offer dove hunts(they own land just up the road from me and used to hunt there) $100 opening day, $50 afterward they will bring you drinks and snacks.
That's why not many kids today take up hunting. I grew up in the country and 3 or 4 of us would just go from field to field finding doves. Farmers all knew us and welcomed us to shoot. We also hunted ducks in the swamps. Never had to pay or even ask, it was just expected. Not sure times today are better or worse.
Back when dove hunting was state operated you could just stop at a field and get permission to hunt with the crowd already there for free. Fields were everywhere and doves were plentiful. Once it turned federal and the farmers were told when and what they could plant along with when it had to be cut the hunting went south! Used to you'd have to field strip your gun and clean it so it would keep shooting during the day. Nowadays youre lucky if you get on a field that has enough doves to get a limit. When it went federal is about when pay fields started. Now it's plain ridiculous what you'd have to pay to shoot doves. I always get an invite or three to hunt doves but never go.....just aint enough doves to make it worth it to me anymore. Guess I'd rather just remember those good 'ole days where you'd shoot 6-8 boxes of shells a day when hunting.:)
Rather fish than sit in the hot sun waiting, waiting and waiting then everyone shoots at the same bird 80 yards away from you are and everybody runs at the same time to pick up the bird. :popcorn Getting to old for the running!:Rofl
