CNBG Almost a foot long LP 08 21 17
-
Just awesome...
I can only imagine what those feel like on the UL with 2 lb line. Those fish are what us southerners dream about.
Always enjoy your posts and great pics!
-
Thnx Terry, appreciate the comments
Catching them on jigs I make is icing on the cake....
-
-
I'd like a few of those lures. How do I get some?
-
Wow, thanks for posting, I'm dreaming of catching some like that one day!
Sent from my iPhone using Crappie.com

Thnx guys
excited - I think junglejim tyes something very similar - not sure if he is a sponsor on here..... I don't sell jigs but I have done a tutorial on tying chub bellyspinners.
-
JungleJim used to sell some but I don't know if he still does.
Very nice fish. As already said, what us fellers dream of. In the middle of a move but I have a trip of self time coming, if for nothing else but to clear the head. Been over a month since the boat has been wet. Keep em coming.
-
Thnx skeetbum. Think JJ is one of the most prolific tyers I've ever met.
I was hung out to dry from last November till this June - talk about cabin crazy.....
Good luck on the move.
-
Always impressed with your fish LedHed. That's one heck of a green ear. Think i might get back into tying again just to try out some of those jigs. Looks like they would stack crappie too.
-
Really nice gills Sonny. Those green sunfish are huge. I think the world record is just over 2lbs. so Perris might produce some soon if they keep growing like that.
-
Thnx Sj - you should pick up the tying again, next best thing to fishing
JJ - The GS started turning up about 2-3 years ago. Coincides with the lake level remaining the same. Still low but not a lot of fluctuation is allowing them to spawn. Seeing a few more Spotted Hybrids too.
-
I definitely want to grow some trophy CNBG when I create my own pond!
-
Didn't notice the big one before, wow!!!!!!
-
I've been tying those hard body baits for years but still can't tie them like Sonny can. That big one has to be pushing 2 if not more. I'm not a sponsor but sell some jigs on ebay, not like Sonny's though. There is a tutorial on how to make these but I won't give out the information without permission from Sonny and this site. If you look for it hard enough you can find it though, I did.
-
I would quit crappie fishing if I could catch some of those beauties. Oh wait I can't catch crappie either.
-
Good gracious, that's incredible. I've never seen one Bluegill that big much less that many. I fished the St Johns river in FL for bluegills many years ago and I thought those fish were huge but nothing like that. What body of water were those caught on?
-
what a big ole bunch of whopper gills you got bro ....man are them some kinda monster "augers" ......
btw do they not have crappie in those lakes or do you just not chase them ?

JJ - I think it's the 2lb test more than anything. To me - chubs troll better. I know the molds you got from Robert are the same ones I have - think we have different weights...
FF - heard about the St Johns river on BB.C, sounds like a great place to fish. If you like river fishing, for Panfish, check out the Colorado River, especially below Parker Dam. I primarily fish Lake Perris, but you can catch fish like these in a lot of local reservoirs (we call them lakes). San Diego Lakes are awesome but to far for me, 60 - 100 miles.
Ketchn - we got Crappie too, again hardly anyone fishes for them. I stumble on some in the spring when the shad are spawning in the marina.

I kinda thought there might be some whale crappie around in those parts .......very nice bro
-
Thnx Ketchn
San Diego lake are more popular for the Crappie although central California has some good fish also.
-
have you heard how the fishing is in Castaic lake up by santa clarita? Our son lives in valencia and have hiked around there, we go out there couple times a year and they are BORING. So after playing with grandaughters for while we are looking for things to do. thanks.

Crappie mike is the guy you want to talk to about the LA lakes - he's up in that area.
If you want to try LP next time your out let me know - your about 90 minutes from here.
