My best advice would be to make sure you DON'T post pics with the gps cord,s showing, if these turn out to be good piles Sofkahatchee Creek might get fished dry before you can get back there. No worries from me though I'm too far away! :)
I got plenty of em out there and if I get few tips then it's well worth it. Besides I like to think we are all family on here

It's mostly not the members. It's the lurkers. You would be amazed at the number of people that never contribute but always look to see if there is a hot spot near them.
Mark the brush so you can stay on it with a buoy are spot lock if you have it. Then try Crappie pappy's vertical fishing.

Great job ! Thanks for sharing ! Hard work pays great dividends!
I do not usually trust fish ID to tell me there are fish there, particularly in a brush pile. It would be interesting to see if you had a picture right after you put it in and compared it over time. I just never use the fish ID because I do not trust it to be right. I would rather see what the signal looks like. I also find I can see individual fish better on downscan.
I was also wondering that. I have a helix 5 and still learning how to use it. Not sure what fish look like on the DI or SI yet

I think it depends a lot on the distance from the transducer and/or the angle of the fish to the signal. Some will just show up as white dots, but every now & then you may get a shot like this :

Not trying to be a smart *** But are you sure that your on the brush pile? looks like bait to me....
Sometimes I know I'm on top of brush, that being said I have thought the same thing about being bait. I haven't had my helix 5 very long so still getting used to it. I use minnows and jigs in that area at various depth but no fish and the fish finder keeping showing fish top to bottom. There are still leaves on brush and im wondering if it is mistaken them as fish

I'd definitely try taking off the fish ID and try looking for actual fish arches in 2D(you can sometimes turn sensitivity down a bit and they'll stand out from the brush better). Just out of curiosity, how tall and wide was the brush pile you made and was it made of bamboo or another material? Bamboo condos can look like fish are all over them the first few weeks before the leaves begin to deteriorate a little. They're also very difficult to get a good view on with a downscan or sidescan unless you really get to know your electronics.
This particular pile is about 20' tall and maybe 6' wide. I have 3 of that size down there. I just added a even taller and wider pile of bamboo to that pile this past weekend. I have a underwater camera and will be looking around there. Gonna try to turn down sensitivity on my helix 5 and see if that helps. Thanks for the tips

Have you tried changing sensitivity and contrast
Yes but still learning unit

Jordan can be a tough lake. If the fish are not biting. When the water temps drop you will start catching
How long does it take bamboo brush piles to produce? I set some out last weekend and this past week. Just wondering when the crappie will starting using them.
Not sure I've only put out one and it was in a established brush pile. I figured once the algea starts growing so prolly 2 - 3 weeks

I have out over 150. It usually takes me about 3-6 months before showing some activity. But I'm just wondering if they could come sooner. Depends on algae which attracts the minnows then the crappie.
Location, location if crappie are there they will use the pretty quick, if they are not then they will not ever use them.
Keep trying. I use the Fish ID and prefer it. Used it last week in Canada and it showed fish very well. The hard part is determining the size of fish, once you figure that out you can skip the smaller ones, or change lure size and fish for them.
Does anyone have suggestions on type of trees to use? I try to stay away from pine but didn't know if any other type of trees is better than others

I don't think that's crappie. Back up and toss a weedless jig at it till You feel it. You'll know pretty quick!
Where r u? I use willows & cane cemented in cinder blocks, Cypress tops/limbs tossed about. Pvc pipe is good too if u can find it in a junk pile

I have been using cane for crappie tops for the last several months because I have a source and it is easier to handle. Have caught fish off of them but never in good numbers. I have heard that crappie are repelled from cane, that there is something about it that they find objectionable. Does any one have any experience or an opinion? Thanks.
I have been planning on putting some out using river cane but haven't yet did not know there was any issues with it, I'll keep an I on this post to see if anyone know for sure.
The only time that I know crappie have an objection to cane is when a hook, line, and sinker is attached
