Thanks. Years ago I fished Sardis and know it has some but can't remember what part of the lake it was on.
Lots of cypress lots of buck brush at higher water levels some dead timber but mostly submerged

Of the big four Butla was the last built. All timber was cut before flooding. In younger years when water was low you could see stumps. Silt has covered the stumps over the years.
Silt in is a problem on the big 4, none will hold the volume of water as they use too.
This is not true, out of the 4 lakes Grenada was the last one to be in use, opened in January 1954. Enid was completed in December of 1952, Sardis around 1940, can't find an exact date on when Arkabutla was completed in 1943.Quote:

On Sardis most the timber starts at Holiday Lodge / Teckville and goes back east towards Wyatts Crossing. Sardis has beautiful old timber as well as Grenada. It's disappearing fast though.Quote:

Sounds like a very brave young man! Hate to hear of his passing, I will make it a point to go in there next time down. Thanks for sharing the story, and the walk thru the spillway sounds neat. I was down there the day of crankfest and they had one side of the spillway blocked off and were pumping water out from somewhere back into the outlet channel.Quote:
