I've got an idea on a jig and am looking for spotted zonkers. Been searching the Web but have yet to find any except barred. Anyone got any ideas?

Don't know that I have ever seen any spotted Zonkers. That would be a difficult thing to do with something ne dealing with a lot of rabbit to dye! Good luck in your search!
Just as an FYI, I have a lot of zonkers and crosscut rabbit and even a little Pine squirrel Zonkers and maybe a few other kinds of hair on Zonkers, but none spotted that I remember, but will look at my Pinenut Squirrel ones to see.

You could always dot it with a permanent marker. :biggrin
I was curious about making some salamander jigs. I'm sure I could use the barred zonkers and be just as effective.

I haven't cut these yet but are these what you mean by spotted?? I'd have to play to see how they'll cut. I got the scrap package from a lady named FurCraftme on ebay - she's out of Maine, but I'll check that for sure. You could always email through ebay once I get the right name.
Those look nice but no I'm talking about dyed furs with basically polka dots...trying to get a jig to look like a salamander

They also have some markers for fly tyers and I would think jig tyers that should let you do your thing! Let me find a link.
If I was about to order my stuff I could get you what ever colors of these you would want, but not ordering right now, but maybe soon?

Oh forgot to say you can also get Pattern Coloring Patches (ones more for tyers and not design stuff) to use with these markers too!
Okay found another brand of marker that should also be good!

Skip those markers look good, thanks for the links as I know some will get them.
I also have paint sticks (markers) but I'm not to happy with them because they dry up too fast once you use them the first time plus you can not control the color like you can with a marker.
Your welcome SH! If you Google them there are other places that have them also. I just saw them at Hareline and wanted to post a link anyone can use. I may have to pick up a few of these next time I order from Hareline.
Maybe I should add these statements on the two products/markers...
Chartpak AD Markers...
The Tri-Nib tips on these permanent markers will allow you to color any shape or material with ease. Perfect for our extended bodies.
Copic Sketch Markers...
Can be used as is or with the airbrushing kit.

Permanent markers work great with the rabbit. Tape the top of the strip and stretch it a little as you make your dots so it doesn't move on you. Once it dries you can brush out any clumpy area with something like a tooth brush.
Thanks for those links Skip. I will definitely have to look into that stuff this winter when I'll be doing my creative brainstorming and experimenting out of sheer boredom...
I appreciate everyone's input on this it is a great help.

I should also mention that Hareline has a some Pattern Patches that look nice and would probably be good on crank baits or some kind of solid bait too. So many different size holes, so maybe these would make it easier to put the dots on too?
