No bacteria can survive being baptized in grease at 350 degrees . Say da blessing over it and chow down .you don't believe the fake news do ya!
I hear ya. Um, it's not fake news bro.

Flesh-eating bacteria Vibrio found in Alabama waters: Is it safe to swim? | AL.com
Here is what the articles say. Looks like it's all salt and brackish water related. Enjoy the fish up North!! Stay away from the raw shellfish and fish from ocean/brackish waters.
"The bacteria - known as Vibrio - is found in lakes, rivers, along the coast and in other warm, brackish bodies of water. The bacteria can lead to destructive soft-tissue infections and other illnesses.
"Most soft-tissue infections occur with either injury or with conditions such as poorly controlled diabetes or low immunity. However, sometimes otherwise healthy people can develop a skin infection after skin injury and being exposed to natural bodies of water. Some bacteria can cause more severe infections than others," said Dr. Karen Landers, Assistant State Health Officer, ADPH.
Three cases of flesh-eating bacteria have been reported in Alabama since March. One case involved the consumption of raw oysters from another state, the other two people - both of whom had open wounds - contracted the bacteria in water near Mobile Bay, the Mississippi sound and Dauphin Island areas. All of the victims have recovered from their illnesses."
Yeah, I kinda figured it was safe. It pertained to salt water, but then the news said ALL lakes and rivers. Misleading. I was just talking to my boss about fishing Friday and he mentioned this to me. I am still going. I just thought I'd share this with you all.
Be safe!
350 degree grease cures a lot of problems.
I seen the same thing on the new . It has nothing to do with eating fish. Just don't get in the water if you have a cut . This happens every year you just don't hear about it much. Bob is correct is sait water. There's only about 6 cases so far.
It's happening in TN as well. For the safety of the general public, I am proposing a ban on all jet skis and pleasure boats for the remainder of 2017! This is only to protect their flesh, no personal motive at all!
I here the glitter in those green trout boats attracts it. They should be safe and stay off the water also:biggrin:biggrin:biggrin:biggrin
Typical, nobody knows what waters or areas have the bacteria, so they put out an advisory for everything.
I'll keep fishing and eating, also pray for forgiveness each night in case it's my time.
I figure it has been around a long time. Just these days of antibacterial everything has caused people to have a lowered immunity to it. They haven't stopped drinking the water from the lakes in South Alabama.
Wife works for a doctor who had a patient who got it while fishing in the gulf. Had a cut on his hand. Was in hospital for two months. About lost his life and nearly his arm. Ended up losing his middle two fingers. Her doc says you just have to be careful with open cuts and sores in very warm water.
Vibrio Vulnificus has always been here but seems to be worse this year. Maybe too much rain and late flood pushing nutrients into the bay, :dono. I don't ever remember hearing this much about it in the past. A commercial fisherman friend of mine had some dirty water from his fish box splash in his eye a few weeks ago and it became infected and he almost lost it. Did lose most of his sight from it. An old saying was only catch and eat oysters during the months with r in them. Cooking well kills the bacteria
Those R months are a lot cooler and most of the time less rain. The old timers had it figured out
Thanks for bringing this up, people need to take precautions to prevent infectious diseases as best they can. That doesn't mean giving up water sports altogether but using some judgment on where and when. The same applies to ticks and mosquito transmitted diseases, use your bug spray. Then there is skin cancer, use your sun screen. It is unfortunately more complicated than just using common sense because it requires that you be well informed.
There is always something and as serious ar this is , we live in an unclean world . More fast food restaurants fail inspection due to what is on the door going in than the bathroom floor . Enjoy your Lunch . :dono
I live on the coast and it's a real thang here. I have permanently hung up my mullet net and said adios to raw oysters because if it. I was raised on those two things but they just ain't worth it. Got a friend that lost 2 fingers and his nose. It is a warm salt/brackish water thing so I don't worry about it further than that
