Favorite jig
I couldn't find a thread about this here, so I'll just see how this goes. What is your favorite jig---weight---color combination, etc?
I know that different colors work better in different types of water, but if you had to choose one, what would it be?
I guess mine would be a 1/16 oz tube jig with a white body and chartreuse tail.

1/16 OR 1/8 oz Black and Chartruse hair jig that I tie.90% off the time this is the jig that does it where I fish. Topped with a nibble of course.

I've used the nibbles a time or two, but not noticed any difference. Do you think it makes that much difference? Also, do the hair jigs work better than the plastic ones?

i always start off with a 1/16 tube jig black and chartreuse and go from there. i also use white and chartreuse quite a bit.

Polebender, I don't know if a hair jig is any better than a tube most of the time. In cold water the hair gives more action due to the cold water stiffing up the plastic. I like the hair jigs primarily because they are more durable, I have fished the same hair jig for a couple days before it gets ratty. As far as the nibbles go, the water I fish is generally pretty stained, and I think it helps the fish find the jig and hang on a little longer. They seem to help me, might just be a fluke though, but they do seem to help.

I like the hair jigs, skiptomylu on this site made me some real good ones, in green/chartreuse w/ a black head & red thread. As far as tubes go, I like the jig spinners like road runner, or crappie pro, w/ willow leaf blades. you can check these 2 out at www.thumpitjigs.com ; www.crappiepro.com . Colors i rely on are black & chartreuse, and blue & white. I just recently got on the blue & white. I sometimes like a chartreuse head & solid white body too. The thing that I prefer on my jigs is a barb. I only like the roadrunners that have the red hooks, because they have barbs on them. I prefer those b'cause the tubes slide down a lot if the head doesn't have a barb, & whenever you get a bite, and you will lose some fish that way.
