Who fishes for bluegill and redears after the spawn and what's the best technique
I do. Did yesterday. Put 25 in the box. Just outside their beds with a jig waxworm combo under a small bobber.
I fish for them year round and actually prefer post-spawn. You have them all to yourself! :)
On my last two trips, I had just under 100 gills and shellcrackers. Got almost all on a red trout magnet. Tipping with a waxworm was more productive.
ultra-lite, fly rod , on bottom, and with a quill and cricket . other than that I leave them alone . :biggrin
Bream spawn several times during the summer, at least here they do. We stumbled on beds in August.
I fish for them year round......Trout Magnet....2# test line with UL rods.

Once they move to deeper water humps and rock piles I get them trolling cranks or drop shotting.

Tried trout magnets Wednesday. They wouldn't touch them here. Had to add a waxworm to get a bite. BG itty bits outfished them tremendously. I tried 2# test too. Only had the white ones.
How do you find them ?
