.82, set over the weekend, on the MDWFP website... Look in the fishing reports....
I find this hard to comprehend . I have caught several from this lake in excess of a pound and back yrs. ago there were some that I woulds have thought over 2 lbs . Guess nobody ever turned one in . Back in the 70's trace, lake monroe and lamar Bruce was my dad's favorite places to bream fish . There were giants in all three .
Well, it may just be about as accurate as the rest of those month old fishing reports that they just change the date on each week!
I have talked to quite a few lake managers who have told me they didn't talk to anyone at the MDWFP and tell them what is written on there...
The MS state record bluegill is 3.45 lbs.... state records here. Mississippi State Fishing Records
I have caught lots of bluegill at lake lamar bruce bigger then the one you posted....lots bigger

I been creel checked there by gw many times and they weighed and measured all my fish and wrote it down.....checking bluegill and redear.

So, I guess you have to apply for lake records ? I will soon be the lake record holder . lol :biggrin
I just take them home and eat them

This was just an "above average" one a few years back..2lb. 6 oz ...Have seen bigger ones caught
I agree don , would like to see why there creel check with names, date, times were not admissible for records . :dono
Yep....lamar had lots of two and two and a half pounders

Was there Messing around Tuesday we had seen the news report so we weighed the biggest one of the few we caught it weighed .70 and wasn't that big. They said the lake Records started over when the lake re-opened. Biggest bass so far is only 6 pounds and something.

Sounds to me like someone could set the bar pretty high then right off the bat. Iffin' not, gonna keep going thru these records of dink fish, if it's kids that's cool, but if a grown man is certifying a 1/2# brim as a lake record, than I would say that man has too much time on his hands :twocents
That can't be correct. Realize that they redid the lake a few years ago, drained it, took out or killed all of the HUGE Brim and Bass that lake used to produce, but even so, they are catching plenty of "bigger than your hand" brim in there. Stocking program with Trout and Walleye has been succesfull, you can keep the trout any size, but the walleye, some of which are 3 to 5 pounds must be released immediately. The Walleye are brood stock for Pickwick and Bay Springs.......which make no sense whatsoever.....even the park ranger thinks its stupid.

Old folks posting on old thread!
I owned the point of land in the horse shoe cove for years...I have a 2.8 Redear on the wall..I know for a fact bigger ones than that had been caught. Doc also liked red wigglers on the bottom..
Dumb phone..I hit the wrong key..2.7, not 2.8lb
