Dubison.....Monday 6/26/17...

Woke up at 3:30....stopping for shiners took me 20 minutes out of my way....got to launch at 6 AM....first time ever fishing here.....first one to launch...no one else there....beautiful morning...cool, some clouds.....deep water everywhere....started first for bass with white spinnerbait....along comes Dapet in his boat and we chatted some....nothing going with the bass so set up my spider rig with 4 poles.....2 about the next hour....other boats start showing up....made my way back in a cove and found some hanging out in there....picked up 5 more in 7 to 18 fow...missed about 4....pole halfway in water but nothing there...figured I gave it some slack getting it out of the rod holder....starting to get hot around 11...time to quit....met another nice fisherman on the water and he gave me 5 more nice ones to make me an even dozen....moma will be happy for that.....cleaned them today....time for a few fillets in the skillet in coconut oil sprinkled with "Slap-Ya-Moma" cajun seasoning....

First time I ever had all whites....big one 12 1/2"....

Man i could eat me some of that. Learning new tricks eh. What's that saying about old dogs....

Yep...on shiners and while he was working....

Well since I wasn't the only one to jump the fence ,this is the Tuesday report . Caught 21 kept 16 pulling cranks, 220s out did 350s - 15-1 , from daylight till the sun broke through the clouds at about 9 30 am the pole with the "Mad Cow" white splatter back was the only one catching fish.After the sun came out and the umbrella went up the "Grass Shrimp" the charchuse crank bait was the only one they wanted.

I need to find one of Mr Bruce pictures of the Orangatang with his arms streached above his head and the caption saying " while you were working " just teasing

Great job Bruce in some unfamiliar waters! Chip, I love the way you have the depths marked on your tackle box! Could you PM me a picture of them without the fish please? For that time when I actually do try pulling cranks! lol

Not far from home as I live in Opelousas. I bought some Arkie 320's. Need to give old Dub a try again. How deep should I pull?

last time out i had success at 8 to 12 ft....I don't really know but i know i let out a lot of line....in the middle of the lake......goes gainst my religion to fish out the middle o no where.....:)...seems i may change the way i pray though;)

Caution this gets very addictive very fast.

Just curious but with only 14 ft. of line out the fish don't get spooked? Are you using an outboard or trolling motor?

When they are biting nothing seems to stop them...I pushed some jigs out the front o the boat with 6 ft rods and fished 1-2 ft deep....no problem....if they are not biting it's a matter of finding the one that is and how they want it.....as 20 watt says...a busy troller is a happy troller:)

I'm using my outboard motor, it doesn't seem to bother them. This is Arkies depth chart used with 10 & 12 pound test mono trolling at 1.5 - 1.8 mph. There is a good vidio on utube under Percision Trolling Crank Baits

Thanks all. When I look at the various setups on here it looks most are using bass tackle. Are light spinning rods like use for tight lining shiners not enough? Thanks.

we think alike...I have (2) 6'-6" medium action rods with 8# mono that I am going to try next trip with cranks....also, using a 3/4 oz egg weight 2-3 ft in front of the crank....we'll see what happens....got to get a bite first to see how it works....since I am using a weight to control depth, I figure I do not have to worry about what series crank I use (100, 200, 300)....less line to reel in if I do hook one...probably a lot of flawed thinking in this but....who knows....

Bruce..it may take a 2 or 3 oz. egg sinker depending on your speed...and remember all I learned came from the other experts here...and ya'll know who you are:)

Bruce.....i use a 2 oz. Weight and run my speed so that may line lays back about 45 degrees
