Man this time of year it is so nasty to pull up at a ramp to the funky smell of dead minners, dump em in a ditch somewhere, not where everyone has to smell and step in em!!!!!!:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead

I dump mine in the lake away from the ramp not in the parking lot why can't people just show respect to others

That's one of my biggest pet peeves as a fisherman. Why wouldn't you dump em in the water? Never made sense to me.
Minners ? You ought to try the Rankin County landing. We lovingly call it Goose Crap Landing. Can't walk no where without stepping in green poo
Be killing me some geese, haven't been to a ramp in the last month that didn't stink

I bring mine home, the chickens love them.
Probably the same (people) parents who sit idly by and watch there kids throw huge rocks at the foot of the boat ramp. Peoples inconsideration for others never cease to amaze me. Just yesterday coming back in at Wyatts Crossing some idiot thought it a good idea to park his boat long ways at the only one usable ramp, while he ran to the STORE!! The ramp is only wide enough for two boats, he saw me coming in, I had to move a sizable log just to squeeze in to load up my boat. He pulls back up 10 minutes later all smiles. Next time that happens I will cut the rope and give her push off!! And yes, I try to give my minners away before I dump them in the lake, but never on the ramp or in the parking lot.
I see it as a way to give a little back after a day of fishing, I always have way more minners than I need since I catch my own from a local farm pond.why not feed the fish.
It is the same inconsiderate knuckleheads that throw trash out the window,in the lake, text n drive, empty ash trays on the parking lot,and so on and so on.It's easy to dump minners in the lake even if you pulled the boat up the ramp.Just takes a little bit of effort but they are too busy moving on to another inconsiderate act.....
I think here in Tennessee it is illegal to release live unused minnows into the lake.
I'm not saying you should dump them in the parking lot, but the lake may not be the answer.
Won't take many silver carp accidently dumped in and we can all take up golf.
I've had them given to me and I make every effort to give my extras away ..... but I don't dump them in the lake because of the reason others mentioned.....Could be some small invasive critters in there. I guess there is always a chance of that with live minnows since some may get off the hook and live.
I would NEVER dump them on the ground at the ramp....or keep the ramp tied up while I clean the fish down there and then throw the remains in the lake.... as I have seen some do.
I use minnows a lot and just bring them home and put them back in my minnow vats and continue to use them until they are gone. If any dies in the minnow vats I feed them to my wife's chickens. They are good protein for helping produce eggs.
Some folks just don't give a rip, but I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around.

Try pulling up on the ramp where some idiot dumped their load of Asian carp after shooting a boat load, lining them up for pictures, then driving off. F&W has had to put out trail cameras to catch some of these idiots. It's getting better but still happens. I guarantee you they would walk home if I saw them do it.
I had a pair to build a nest and hatch 2 of 5 eggs last year on a shed roof. I posted it on a chicken facebook group. Oh no, you don't want them around your chickens.
They came back this year wanting to get in the coop. I chased them away with shots from my BB gun a few times each day for a week. If they were near when I let the chickens out the same hen would run them off. A few weeks later she started laying soft eggs and died a week later. I don't know if the geese and the hen problem was related, but I'll keep a closer eye out for them now.
It's a growing sport and just like everything else you get some good folks and you get some bad folks. This would be a good reason to outlaw trolling with minnows. (I'm just joking guys so don't get upset)
Since we are venting! One thing that really gets me is we park in parking lot to load gear in our boat, take transom saver off, preparing to launch etc... people blow by us to the ramp. We then go to launch and the ramp is full of folks putting their gear in the boat, graphs on etc... blocking the darn ramp. Take care of getting your boat ready to launch in the parking lot not on the ramp!!! You are not going to beat anyone to a secret spot by blocking the ramp.
All it takes is a little consideration for your fellow angler. Makes the world go round. Respect other people and respect the ramps and public areas we have the luxury of using. But preaching to the choir here.

I save em and throw them in my pond the few times I buy them. I love watching the bass chase them down for a snack. Same for leftover crickets. Blue bream clean em up pretty quick
i put em in my tomato plant pots...good fertlizer. since were discussing our frustrations my thing is people that will pull 100 ft of line off a reel and throw it in the lake. its gotten so bad that every time i service my boat i pull the big prop and the tm just to make sure. had a good friend that lost a $2000.00 prop cause braid was around the shaft which eventually broke.
I know the group! If you happen to be fishing the same area that they are they seem to try everything they can to push you out to! I usually just avoid them if possible but sometimes we get right in the middle of them just to ruffle their feathers if we want to fish the area they are in. Let me say that I'm not against guiding but that bunch gives guides a black eye!
Plain ole inconsideration....What comes around goes around....If you were like that would you sleep good at night ?.....How would you imagine their clients feel about their guides behavior?....In life respect doesn't fall out of the sky and land on you ,you have to earn it....Who would respect poor behavior?
I take my minnows home to reuse or dump em in the lake. I have dumped a few dead ones in the bait shop parking lot tho. I ain't got no chickens. [emoji23][emoji23]

I thought it was not a good thing to dump minnows into the lake?
Problem is assuming everyone has common sense, courtesy and rational mind. Obviously, that's not the case. And people like that don't give a crap about what other people think. A turd is a turd no matter how you look at it!!!!
It's the responsibility of the majority to control the minority of people that do this kind of crap.....shamming and shunning would the first tools to use ... and that is what this thread is about .... confrontation may be necessary if that doesn't work. If you don't know the offenders, it may be best that the confrontation is accomplished by reporting the offenders to the authorities.
One thing is for sure, society today is far too willing to accept aberrant behavior......If we do nothing it will get worse.
In Louisiana, it is against the law to dump shiners in the lake....I used to do that until I read all the regulations prohibiting that...now, I feed them to the cat that hangs around the launch...saw her eat 60 at one time one day...found out she was feeding her unborn....or, I give them away to someone....
Also, after launching their boat before daylight, two bass guys were at the ramp stripping their monofilament lines and throwing the old into the water....preparing for a tournament that day....game warden was nearby watching then calmly walked down and wrote them both up for that....over $1000 each....good....
I have had a seal on my trailer bearings go out due to mono rapping around it...no mystery where that came from...
Who respect bad behavior? Our school systems do, the young parents in this day and age, our guberment, and all the peace lovin' liberal idiots that have turned this great country into a sad has been story.
Oh, sorry for the rant. I'm better now...

I have a little kiddie pool in the yard for my labs to cool off in. I dump the leftover shiners in there for them to chase. It's big fun to watch them. Never in a parking lot or back in the lake.
