The fellow on Graysport, up until a month ago, said he wany selling them anymore.
I'd like to put in at Choctaw, but I'm not opposed to Piney Woods or Wolf, for a reference on my launching location.
Preciate any help you can afford me,
Austin

Haven't been able to find the large lately. Lakeway has the good size mediums. That's usually where I stop

I like the bigguns because I feel they work better, plus, if I don't catch enough crappie to eat, I can always stir fry them monstrous minners.
Lakeway is your best bet but you can check at collins bait shop I havent been in there in a while though....
Lakeway or B's Grocery depending on the way you come..
Lakeway hasn't been having anything but a small grade of mediums.
Good luck! I have hit every minnow farm that I know of looking for size 12's. The farms only have a few and they are sending them up north!
The best I have found is 8's with lots of 6's mixed in with them.
So, basically, I need to prepare myself for the fact that if finding crappie prove to be as elusive as finding dinner-sized minners, then I'll be having potted meat for supper.
Ain't no big minnows around Grenada Thank God. Back 5 weeks ago we were getting about 2 dozen in a lb for 16.00 now we get a bunch of minnows in a lb I can fish all day on a lb of minnow
If your putting in at Choctaw then B's grocery at Gore Springs buys miners from the same guy as Lakeway. So they will have the same supply more than likely. Jeffers on the Choctaw side is the same.
Collins Bait Shop almost always has larges. He always gives me a good count too.
jeffery's on graysport has closed.
Is that the store on the highway where you turn to graysport?
It's the store on the gums crossing going north from graysport.
OK thanks
I bought 1.5lb yesterday at Chevron. Number 4's and 6's mixed at best! I figure most bait shops are serviced by the same wholesaler. I prefer large to Xlarge minnows this time of year. We have a ton of minnow farms in Arkansas including the biggest that supplies most of that area. I have talked to several farms they have had trouble with grow out this year plus they said demand has been high. The few 8's which is a good medium to 12's which is large also called a bass minnow are all going to northern markets. Farms that you could buy quality minnows from in the past either do not have them to sell or they will not sell what they have because they are shipping them up north. I had one farm that said they would be able to sell some large in about 2 weeks, this was last Saturday. You have to purchase 5lb minimum prices range from $3.75 to $7.50 per lb for size 8 to 12 depending on size that you want.
Well I just went on to B's. He scraped me up the last 3/4 lb. that he had of small to medium and a few oddball large ones.
I really can't get my mojo going when I go to Grenada without some large minners.
We caught 9 throwbacks, 3 keepers. Missed who knows how many until I put some offset circle hooks on.
We had some action power trolling, but I think the front coming in put them in a bad mood. We had better results slowing down to .2-.4 and just barely ticking a weight on the bottom while fishing the hooks 2-4 feet off the bottom in 10-15 FOW. Straight minnows (the biggest we could find in the bucket) did better than jigs. Pushing cranks, nada.
Nothing better than having some confidence on the water(whatever your using), but if I can help you gain some confidence....I've never fished a big minnow. On Grenada I prefer a medium to small medium minnow. If we need to bulk it up we can put a big jig on and tip it. I believe the right area and right presentation those suckers will eat anything
I agree about em eating anything.
But you can't give me none of your mojo! That's right up there with the laws of gravity! Gotta get cha own mojo! ;)
Plenty of big Minnows at Pillows in Paragould AR. 5 bucks per pound. Ronnie and Steve brought 50lbs to Sardis for the ACT from them.
BRM
Minnows are 16.00 a lb in Grenada
Vic Finkley use to supply minnows to all the bait shops around Grenada, don't know if he still does?
Yep. $17.20 per pound with tax at Lakeway. Minnows have LITERALLY passed fuel as my biggest expense. I'd have no problem paying $10/pound for 8's 10-15 pounds at a time if I could get them locally. Fishing Enid or Sardis you gotta take 2-3 pounds to weed through the 1 and 2 year olds...
Patrick I got a truck tank and house vat. Next time I go to Grizzly jigs I will go by pauragould Gonna get me 100 dollars worth and see how it works minnows we are getting now aren't as tough as they used to be
$3.75 per lb at Lonake, AR for #8's minimum of 5lbs per purchase. $5.00 to $7.50 for #12's when available.
