Sad.
Not looking good. With fewer sporting good stores the prices will probably skyrocket.
They were having a contest for designing a new company logo.
They had priced themselves right out of each and every market years ago.
Academy Sports and Outdoors is the best chain out there, but they lack some of the more high quality items that a few purchase. But that is why they can keep prices low because they stock what can be sold.
Bye bye gander mountain!

yep agree, i pointed out at a store that they asking more for a used shotgun then it costs brand new. Got to price competitively to the market, which they did not. Bought their line of supercoolers and are terrible. Ice melted in a 7 hour drive from tennessee to south carolina. Shouldve paid the extra hundred or or so for a yeti.
Well, I made the mistake of going in the Ocala one the other day. I kept getting all the emails too. Well, all the fishing stuff was 10% off, a few items 15%.. sad part is, wally world, academy, online still had better prices... Once they hit 80% off their prices I might go back in.. maybe, I just get irritated every time I do go in at their prices
I went to the Gander Mountain Store in Little Rock, AR a couple weekends ago and trust me I couldn't find a deal on nothing to be honest! They had 20% off tons of stuff but when you do the math heck you could find it cheaper online! Not sure they didn't accommodate for the discount. And yes I was excited to see the banner (Going out of business sale )!! Just didn't work out for me.
I stopped by the local store and they'd increased the sticker price on the fly reel I looked at a year ago and the clearance price was still higher than market value. I remember flipping trough the GM catalogs as a child and am sad to see them leave the retail market, but they've put themselves in this position with pricing and haven't been able to adapt to the rapidly changing online retail environment. Like many, once things start to drop to prices that are actually lower than you can find at Academy, Walmart, Overtons or Amazon I might stop back in.
I had heard the one here in town wasn't closing, but according to that, they're ALL closing. I never go in there anyway, but it's nice to have the option. With their prices, I'm surprised they made it this long. We have 2 Academy's, 2 Dick's, a Cabela's, and a few local stores that are all better than Gander Mountain.
they got to me for 25 bucks on a gift card with a ton of bla bla bla and I had to go thru the Minnesota bla bla bla bankruptcy court to try and get my money out of them and I am still holding on empty .....of course they will wish they made good at on it for sure and I aint near done with them . when they "reorganize" and start with the new camping world whatever I am after them like stink on you know .....nothing burns me up more than getting taken for hard earned money ! and yeah they got ridiculous high prices anyway ....its no doubt why they went down !
I have been saying I get sticker shock looking at prices in about all the stores..........around 30 years or so.This neck of the woods it's bass pro ,cabels's and dick's...Always everything is on sale for whatever percentage but still way overpriced.I understand a retailer having overhead and having to have a percentage markup.
You walk in and absolutely Cringe at a large percentage of items priced over 100 dollars........
Do as much shopping online as possible and always hunt for bargains(which a lot of times is nothing more than a reasonable price).
