My most recent experiences would lead me to suggest HB or Garmin (which I currently have). Both are easy to navigate. My personal usage of anything Lowrance is long time ago, so I cannot contribute anything there. Raymarine, again I do not know, but MonteSS and some others put up some very nice pics. Good luck with your search.
I'm thinking helix 7 or helix 9 the 9 will have to wait awhile because of price what you opinion?
I got the new helix 9 si a couple months ago and I really like it.I' m no electronics expert by any means and I find it easy to use.The stuff you can see and find on these new units with the si and di is amazing,I wish I would have upgraded to one like this years ago.
Side imaging is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! You will become a brim bed killer. I have had several hummingbirds and two lowrance units. The early hummingbird models to me were easier to use. I may have become more educated or Lowrance is making them more intuitive but I like my Lowrance Elite Touch 9" with total scan a lot. Some brands are limited as to the third party mapping chips that they will run. If you have a map chip preference this may determine what brand of electronics you chose. Competition has resulted in all the players putting out some very nice units.
No such thing as a "fishfinder".
Sure there is..
I love my Helix 9 SI . Go as big as you can afford. I run a split screen a lot w/Lakemaster map on half of screen , and SI on other half .
You will have to forgive some of our senior CDC members . They can get cranky ... but they are VERY wise !!!
I must be a fish finder cause every time my wife gets bored if we're not catching any she tells me I need to find some fish
I thought this was a place to learn not be made fun of
What do you wanna know?
Come on guys, the man has over 21,000 posts with a BS sign in his signature. I don't know him, but it is obvious he is kidding.
I have a license to surf. Blow wind blow.
I took this last weekend with a HB helix.

Ahh look,, Its a fish, that's been "found". Odd.
Actually, it is an image of an underwater object detected by sonar technology and displayed by using imaging processing as the sonar signal reflected the said object.
