Yep, gonna get tuffer too!
I have ran into that before, I find it extremely annoying!
Too many crooks out there. Even with a stolen cc store gets its money. So that's best and safest thing to take.

I refuse the triple digit paper as well, run 90% plastic anymore
I've had that problem before, but I found a solution. I had a few kids and now I forget what a $100 bill looks like! [emoji23]
Sho can be annoying, though. I mean, I'm just trying to give you money.

can't believe anyone would walk into a small retailer and expect change for a hundred with a small purchase, just saying....
When I travel i carry all 20 's just for that reason. I wont take 100s when i go to the bank to get cash.

It would be one thing if it was a mom and pop store, i had already spent nearly 100 on fuel with them. In my small store you pay with a 100 or break one to make a purchase, come on with it. Hindsight I should have bought fuel and paid cash which takes an extra trip in. Blame it on laziness or lack of judgement that early I guess. I understand some folks steal too. Not mad, just stinks I can't get change to pay my launch fee lol

I was wondering how to know if the bills were real or not without having a special pen to mark them. Well one way is to take your thumb nail and rake it over the coat of the President on the bill it should have a ripple texture to it. If it is just slick it is probably a fake bill. They also have a watermark that will show up when held up to a bright light. Maybe other can chime in and tell other things to look for also. I sure would hate to get a counterfeit $100 bill myself so you can't much blame a store for not wanting to cash them for small purchases.
I'm sorry, but someone pulling up to your business with a nice truck, and a 20-30,000 boat attached, probably isn't a crook! You can take that individuals money and not have an issue.
Now, a gangsta pulls up in their ride, where the rims and stereo system is worth more than the vehicle itself, then I would begin to doubt the realism of that $100 bill or be really sure to check it prior to completing the sale.
Just sayin'......

Fibers in the cloth, most bills have a black line inside bill when held up to light. I've counted money for almost 10 years at different jobs and when a fake hits your hand it's pretty obvious, to me anyways

i get my money 100% of the time out of the bankcorp atm from my acct. never get a C note. 5,10 and 20's only come out.
Any one that doesn't like the $100 bills can just mail them to me, and I will gladly dispose of them for you. Just pm me for a mailing address.
When checking to pay cash for this ac/heater installation the guy said nothing over a $20.
He ask for non sequential bills in a briefcase? I understand covering your tail. I've been burned before, but folks trying to pay for over 1000 worth of goods with small bills sounds out there. But I guess he can ask whatever he wants. It's just another trip to the bank

I had the same problem at store here in South Carolina one morning, I stopped and filled the truck up I went and said I was paying cash and didn't know how much it would take to fill it , the guy says I know who you are go ahead fill up and come back in and pay, so I did and I throw down Benjamin for $60 in gas he says I can't take that I said well it all I got in cash and I am not putting it on a card he tells me he can't take it !!! now its 05:00 hrs I tell guy to call Mike he the owner and tell him to come in and bring hose the guys said whats the hose for I told him they could take $100 or suck out the $60 in gas !!! it didn't the boy long to throw down 2 Jacksons !!!:biggrin
I have never understood not taking a $100 bill. They have the pen and take in probably 1000s a day so they have the change. I sometimes get down to 100s is all I have on me. It is a little different if someone is buying a $1.00 candy bar but a guy buying $60 in gas, snacks and ice , you should take his money if it is good.
The jackets are embossed for blind people, each bill has a different shaped jacket lapel,,,the bill should show a watermarked face on the right same as the one on the bill when held to a light source,,,,if its an older issue without a visible vertical thread,,,,ask for another,,if its a counter fitter they will have a good one,,,just my take
A coworker was buying something from another at work. All he had was a $100, needed change. Another coworker said he had $20 so he changed the $100. All 5 were counterfeit. They reported it to the boss which called rr police which called the law. He got 10 months of community service and 6 months of weekend lock up for passing counterfeit bills.
By law, a business is supposed to take any amount of legal tender a person offers.
If you pay with a $ 100 bill or $ 100 in pennies, they're not supposed to refuse.
I've paid with $ 100 bills before at gas stations and they've told me they can't take them. I'll then tell them that's all I have on me and they can take it or I'm walking out.
They all will take it then.
Works every time.......
P.S.
I NEVER us a debit card on vacation. Only cash.
Too many crooks out there that will steal your card number and I've NEVER had any problems breaking $ 100's on a trip.
Most places up near Kentucky Lake take Cash Only,,,, I almost got caught washing dishes on day after eating at a resteraunt...Thank god my fatherinlaw was there to buy lunch,,,, I might still be there washing dishes,,,I guess the reason they don't take lasting is because of a 3 % charge for credit cards,,,,nThey just won't do it,,,
Yep, bought a good many lunches over the years for coworkers / friends who rely solely on digital money on those plastic cards. Bought a lot of fuel in small towns where they don't take AMEX cards as well. I try to always keep a little cash on me for these reasons. MO you were in a tight spot too, trying to get on the water I understand the feeling any delay is costly..lol. Normally it wouldn't be an issue for me, if they didn't want my money I'm sure I could find someone else to burden with my business..
Yea I was about to hit the ATM and pull a 20 out if that last one didn't take it. I just don't usually keep much cash on me. Wifey gets all that lol

Well boys, I grew up poor and there's still something special about having a wad of hunnies in your pocket.
That's why I go to American owned stores.. which are getting few and far between.. never had a problem with a person born and raised in the USA taking my money!
I've ran into the we don't take 100's problem and I just told them I would pay them next time I come in and they changed their stance on taking the 100 then.
You boys are rich crappie fisherman. I carry one's and five's, cheese and crackers and water...lol
Lol. Anybody got a pic of a franklin. I fergets what one even looks like. I count quarters to get a drink.
If Coke isn't $2 per 6 pack for the half liter bottles I'll wait.
Most places have their cashiers do multiple safe drops per shift to limit the amount of cash in the register at any given time in case of a robbery, and the safes are usually on time delay so it takes 30 minutes or more to open and usually only a manager will be able to open the safe.
And people wonder why gold has gone back up to $1300/oz. There will be a lot of people left in the cold when the total digitalization of money occurs which is what the banks want.. The next bank bailout will not come from the govt. but from the "customers". Too bad even the retail industry helping to push this agenda along faster.
Just for information only.
Ben Franklin was never president. Won a little dough betting people they couldn't name the president on a $100.00 bill.

Maybe we should keep a 5 and several 1's in the glove box for those emergency launch fees. HAHA
