can the PST's handle 3oz weights or would 2oz be better ?

It can be done. I've used lots of different rods pushing, and I use 4oz, most of these rods will load up a lot even with 2oz and a crank. I don't get hung up on rod bend, when you get a fish it'll still bury up good.

PSTs are rated to 5 oz...They will load up...I very seldom use over 3
They were tested with 5 oz weights

Greg, if you have a partner the heavier weights work better. I found fishing by myself that 2 oz and the long leader on 12 ft PST is all I can handle with the net. 1 oz of weight makes a big difference when it gets to whipping around between rod tip and fish.
They can handle it.
thanks for the input guys [emoji106]

B & M has a new pole coming out for power trolling with heavy weights. Pro Staffers have prototypes now and say they will be available late summer early fall. B & M wouldn't give an available date last week. I'm getting to try a couple a friend has on hand, ready to put them to the test.
2's are way better. Doesn't load up the pole as bad. 3's will work, but the rod bow is to much for me. I use a different rod for 3 and 4 oz weights. I'll be glad when BnM releases their stiffer power trolling/pushing rods so I can get a set and get rid of my Tightline Specials.

Hope they do these new ones in a full range of lengths
Hoping for a,12 & 8 also
Got to try the new B & M Power Trolling rods yesterday. These were 18' pushing 3oz weights with 300 bandits at 1.5 to 2.0mph. They are a little heavier that my PST's but my PST's are 16' these are 18's.
I was impressed, got a set ordered!
Those are some nice looking rods.. I feel like Im gonna build another garage just for rods :banghead
I feel your pain! Lol! Going to be selling one set of PST's when these get here.
I've pushed with 4 oz. on my BPS tightline specials.
I will probably still use my PSTs for pulling cranks they have served me well...I do want to get a set of the new Pow R Trollers in 14 ft. tho to push crankbaits with using 3 oz. weights.
They are nice! My PST's really load up with a 1/8oz jig, 2 to 3oz sinker with 1/4 jig on bottom. These have about 3 to 4 inches of orange on tips that you can't see in the picture. They didn't load up much at all with the 3 oz weight and 300 bandit but when a fish hit you didn't have a problem seeing the strike. They were heavier than my PST's but not an apples to apples comparison because these were 18' verses my PST's at 16'. They are lighter than the competitors rods. I liked the metal collar that secures them in the holder, I thought that was a nice addition.
