OK, I will give it to you straight... Folks began arriving on Thursday afternoon, and once we got them sworn in to the silence ritual, the non-disclosure documents signed, and used to the blindfolds, we too a few of them out on the lake for a boat ride.
Friday morning was a little hectic, as we discovered that some really expected to catch fish, so we let one of them do the alligator tour, and have at the drum, or Silver Snapper as was explained last evening. That seemed to settle him down a bit, so we continued on to supper at the fancy place...
Yesterday evening, a few adult beverages seemed to settle folks, and the locals talked in code as we shared lots of "information", and stories of fabled events from years past... It was a bit hard to keep steering the conversation to the food on Saturday, but a few major decisions were made, and we enjoyed the view of all the fancy boats and the lake for a while. The meeting at the landing on Saturday morning was cancelled as it became obvious that some were planning to follow others out, and there was some talk of hitching boats together, which was deemed to be an unsafe act.
However, seeing as how everyone was in such a good mood, we decided to go forward with the cooking Saturday afternoon, and just roll with the flow on that.
Now, we have daylight approaching and we are all scattered at various ramps, which seemed to be the best way to handle all of this. I don't mind sharing this with you, but please keep it quiet!
Oh, I think cameras will be allowed at the eating, but not on the lake. We caught one of the guys taking pics out there already!
We had some great food and swapped stories last night at the yacht club, that view was pretty dang awesome looking out over the water. Was good seeing a few familiar faces and meeting some new folks as well. I ended up with 4 crappie and a few slimers after 3 or so hours of fishing, was happy with that being my first time on the lake. We are about to go give em another shot this am, Mid MS is going to hop in with me and show me around a bit, gotta try to beat this line of storms coming through. If the fishing doesn't pan out, we'll have a good eating anyways. I was too busy to take pictures, will try to get a few today

OK, an update on Saturday events. The weather held off for most of the morning, and the wind was manageable on most of the lake till about mid day. That worked out fine, since we were all headed to the main event for the afternoon. The fishing was not exactly on fire, unless you are a person to remain unnamed, (4********), who seemed to be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat two days in a row...
I spent a great deal of time talking to him, and my first impression was that he probably would not be the type to look for a tracking device attached to his boat. Nice guy! I am sure we will be seeing more of each other, every time he goes to the lake.
The food and fellowship, and roof were well appreciated by all that showed up, and the afternoon passed quickly, with some intense weather just to make it more interesting.
We had more fish, hush puppies, and fries than we could eat, and awesome desserts. Thanks cooks!
There were some great door prizes, and raffle items, and a lot of smiles.
It was great to put faces to the names we see on the board, and I overheard lots of plans being made for future trips.
All in all, a very good time! Thanks to all who helped make it happen!
Sounds like an awesome time sure wished I could've been there

He said yep, but didn't last long.. daggum just my luck. Maybe next time, thanks to all who came and thanks to Slab for this site that brings great folks together. Looking forward to the next one!!
