Very nice
A 1/32 oz roadrunner head and tube or grub body pulled slow through a bluegill or redear bed will have your rod bent all the time. It's deadly on crappie too...The slow fall and smaller blade profile will work better than a 1/16 oz or heavier sometimes. I have had some problems with some of the Roadrunner brand 1/32 oz in recent years getting the blade to spin good on the fall or slow retrieve. Some batche are fine and then some I got to fiddle with, need that blade to spin good to work best.
Nice catch. I catch tons of them a year on a Trout Magnet. Many people tell me also they will not hit artificial.
Regards
Very nice! Can't hardly beat a Roadrunner.
I catch everything on a road runner, they are a must have in my box.
Nice fish
roadrunners are excellent but personally i like to just dip a small jig into BG beds, they attack dang near anything and you can put it right on their noses with a long rod.
Love the RR's, nice pics!!
I use jigs,or honey worms for nesting gills, but gonna give under spins and micro cranks a try.
I like pitching RR's and Beetle Spins when I find em gathered up. I used to throw an Evans Shyster close to 40 years ago that they would hammer if the color was right. Now that I have the new light rig I'll be doing more of this stuff. What color was the body on the RR you were using? Looks like a root beer of motor oil maybe?
Good ones there.
Horseheads are great jigs - post a good pic of your grub on the plastics section someone might have a mold that match's it.
Had there never been a marabou Roadrunner ever made :
I wouldn't have caught (literally) hundreds of Crappie.
I wouldn't have caught quite a few Bass (2-6lbs in weight)
I wouldn't have caught the Tiger Muskie that hangs on my living room wall.
And I wouldn't have caught numerous Drum, Catfish, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, or Warmouth.
Just Sayin' :biggrin
Where you getting the 1/32 oz roadrunners in bulk might I ask coach? I can only find 1/16 in box stores, ran across a few smaller knock off runners in a local baitshop last week, made in Haiti and them suckers were on fire this morning, The 1/16's barely got a hit.. I need small runners, do they make a 64th by chance also?
If you were getting some made in Haiti you were getting real ones that's where most of the are being made now. If you want bulk you coud email TTI Blakemore and ask, but you could always make your own - I've got an assortment mold and the pony head with a barb can go down to 1/48th.
Thank you Fatman, I had my doubts about the Haitian made road runners especially after one I used the paint wasn't cured, it was mushy to the touch. I was running Blakemore's as well, the others were out doing them 4 to 1. Guess back to the bait shop this week to get some more runners and talk to the owner about his availability on sizes. And not setup to make my own yet, hopefully one day, sounds like a rewarding hobby.
It sure is when you can make your own and use the components you want

Our gills are not big enough to eat a1/32 oz
Would love to be able to use them. I love roadrunners
yep, roadrunners, other chin spins are great early on have caught 100s of sunfish and crappies on them.i like southern pro slugs with that scooped underside.gives a great slow action on the fall.i usually tip with a single wax worm.the blade on the bottom makes them pretty snag resistant too.the blue fox spinner jig was a favorite but they stopped making them.road runners are a bit pricey and i too have had some that did not spin and some the barrel swivel just broke and the blade came off.
