Don't have any powder paint gear, and I can't get the best color of all, chartreuse. So considering a powder paint setup.
Suggestions?

Order you a cup or two from TJ's tackle with the filter installed. Watch some videos on YouTube. Watch his videos. Build your own base and get cheap air pump from WM. He sells paint also.
Like Cray said, lots of videos to get ideas from. It's pretty easy to set up. TJ's is a good starting place.
If you have more skills and tools, you could make your own cups. I am using chamois for the filter membrane and it works pretty well (but not quite as well as TJ's cups on some paints)
This is my 10th year without a fluid bed, and I've painted thousands of jigs up to 4 oz. I recommend a heat gun but a candle will work in a pinch. Get some hemostats. Clean the eye before you bake.
No need for any special equipment. I just shake every 4 or 5 jigs. Get a cheap heat gun for under$ 20.

X2 with smoothlures and lowe175 have painted a lot a lot of jig's,Bought the fluid bed's do not use them! couple jars of powder paint, heatgun, lighter ect source of heat, needle nose pliers, ready to dip in jar or even better a small brush and tap on to hot jighead, especially pony head's dip in a jar of water, listen for a sizzle."mean's the powder coat is cured" Ready to fish.We like to use white as a base paint.Just the way I was taught.,White, chart,Red,orange and black powder paint is about all you need. Can make a lot of different color's!!We like the glow paint "White turn's greenish" also catches a lot of fish for us.Watch for specials on powder paint, barlow's,Lurepartsonline,Jannsnetcraft, lurec raft.
I use an alcohol burner and have for 12 years, candle and many other heat source may add stuff you don't want. I do like a large wick as the smaller ones seem to not work as well or as fast, plus with this I don't have to listen to a heat gun! I also don't have to worry about where to put ythe heat gun, lol! I got mi e at Barlow's Tackle and have tried others, but didn't like any of them as much as that one!
just an FYI

I have no sound advice when it comes to paint....
I'm a junky and may spend 20 mins or more on one head.
It's fun, just do it. Buy clear n glitter n get to wasting it.

MS comes up with some major works of art... I'm with smooth... no fluid bed for me, however I have been using a lot of unpainted threadneck jigs lately
I use the stove for my heat source, the gas burner does really nice for me. I stir up the power really good and I can run about five heads before stirring again. My buddy uses a propane torch to heat his. Both are very clean flame.
I use a old propane torch that my grandpa used to sweat copper pipe and I find I use my fluid bed less and less, I find it easier to shake the jar.
