Fish Cleaning Question

Just curious how everyone disposes of the fish waste after cleaning fish... I don' mind cleaning fish but the hardest part for me is what to do with the waste...

Put a trash bag in a 5 gallon bucket. Put remains in trash bag. When done take trash bag to gas station up the road and put it in their trash can or sometimes a grocery store nearby if I'm headed that direction.

I put it in a regular trash bag then put that trash bag in a heavy duty trash bag. Put it in my big freezer in the garage until trash day. Don't tell the wife lolnonono

I put mine in trash bag and then put it in the deep freezer till trash day.

I take mine out to the pond behind the house. Turtles gotta eat too.

I'm lucky enough to have a camp on a canal with the fish cleaning station on my dock. Just depend: some go in a crab pot, freeze some for crab pot, back to rive by catfish hole

Dont put any trash in the bucket with the guts.....then give it back to mother nature. Alot of things forage for this kind of food. And it makes great fertilizer. Toss is in a ditch somewhere or pond or river. NO TRASH IN THERE THOUGH. Keep this world as clean as we found it.

I dump mine in a field behind my house. Within 24-48 hours every bit of it is gone. I used to dump it on a very small creek bank before I moved and by the next morning not so much as a scale would be left. Hawks....owls....raccoon eat it all up.

NEVER put it in plastic bags guys, come on let's be a little environmentally sensitive. we either toss it on neighbors field, where it disappears quickly, his request BTW grass is really green and tall where we do that. usually we take it back to lake and put it in around docks and jetty we like to fish, minnows like it and crappie like the minnows or the cats get it. OR if in totally suburban place, take it to ditch or field and put it out. something will eat it up quickly.

also if you want best tomatoes around put them in your garden, deep enough to where they won't be dug up. did it at home i raised my kids in for 20+ years and supplied all the neighbors with great eating tomatoes you can imagine.

In the woods behind my house, the buzzards gotta eat too! :-)))))) Gone in less then two days!

Bears in my neighborhood so it either goes back to the river and dumped or one of the local parks and put in big dumpster.

Sling it out in the woods a few hundred yards behind the house.

We dumped probably 30 pounds of carcasses in the lake - about a foot of water. It wasn't long the catfish showed up for a meal and they could care less that we were watching them. One of those cats had to be 30 pounds.

As has been said here many times, give it back to where it came from. Known several people that freeze them in a bag and take them with on the next trip. Turn the bag inside out and dump them in the water near a fishing hole and it just makes things better. Mine go to work and get thrown in one of the trucks on the way to the dump. Bears here too.

I throw mine up in the bush.

Leave remains in bucket by well. Coons clean it up overnight.

Freeze until trash day or buried deep in the garden beds.

Sling 'em into the woods behind our house. Raccoons get them amazingly quick and when I feed them crappie they tend to leave our cats food alone on our deck. The couple times the raccoons were on vacation, the buzzards paid us a visit.

Bury it in garden and also used to freeze it for coon and mink bait in the fall

I use for tomato making!

Depends on where you live and/or where you clean your fish. :twocents

On some lakes I fish, there's a cleaning station and the remains are just thrown into the water.
On those lakes that I fish that do not have a cleaning station ... I bring them home and clean them ... and living in an apt complex, tossing the remains on the grounds is verboten (forbidden), so they get triple bagged and tossed into the garbage dumpster.

I have a pack a black vultures that get fed down in the creek behind the house ..
they show up within about 30 minutes of disposal ....
the fish never even get a chance to smell ....fast they are for sure :ThumbsUp

Bury them in my garden. I try to get at least 24" deep. After doing so for the last 13 years I get tomato trees instead of tomato plants every year.

Pitched mine over the fence into the pasture. This morning the buzzards cleaned up every scale.
