Coming down to West Point April 1-8th, will the spawn still be peaking or on the decline by then? Thanks

I'll be there the week before you. I'll let you know how we do. We go every year on spring break and last year they had just moved to the banks so I'm hoping we will be fine.

I was there MAR 26 - 30 and didn't have any luck shallow with minnows. Maybe it was because of the rain they got on SAT. A couple people at Southern harbor marina said it was a long steady rain and might have changed their pattern. I was at Wehadkee, Stroud, and Vassey creeks, and never saw a crappie. The water was warm on the last full day I spent there (WED). I think in some places it was around 72 degrees. Maybe that will put them back in the spawning pattern.
Best of luck.
Westpoint is a very clear Lake you have to use lowe vis 4lb line and they can be picky on jig color . I never use minnows so that might have been you problem. I'll tell you one place we caught a few in veassey, that big pine tree across the boat ramp at the day park.

I think I was there once or twice... had to check on the map, I think I spent more time on the other side of the park though... caught a couple blue gills there, but not much else.
Do you mean low vis green line or clear/blue? What brand.... spiderwire or stren? I used a couple jigs too... electric chicken and popsicle, but they didn't seem to like those colors either....
What time of day did you do most of the catching?... looks like it was later in the day?
Yes low vis green, we caught a lot on black and chartreuse tubes and a mix of other stuff including some of my hand tied jigs.

I was at West point yesterday. I trolled minnows in the back of Wilson creek. I caught only 1 Crappie. It was a large male. My son and I fished here several weeks ago with minnows and caught 82 in 2 days. I talked to a man and a lady who said they had been there several weeks ago also and caught some. But since then they had not caught any.
They stopped biting for us a few days ago as well, but the first of the week we smoked them. You are correct, I didn't get a bite in Wilson. We just found some fish that were still on the banks. Once we ran through them, we didn't catch anymore.

Been down since 4/1 and the crappie have been in 14-15ft of water on brush. There has been a ZERO shallow/bank bite the whole time we have been here. The warm up a few weeks ago seems to be when the big surge of spawn happened and then they moved back out pretty fast. It seems as if the shallow spawn bite has been over since last few days of March. Water temp has ranged from 71 in the morning and 74 in the afternoons.
That is warm thanks for the report
