In the market for a new boat, I've had aluminum(small) and I've had fiberglass(loved it).
Considering a Bass Tracker 190, can I get some of your opinions on aluminum vs fiberglass?
I keep hearing that fiberglass won't hold up, "stumps, rebar, river fishing. However, I never had
any issues with the Nitro I had. Aluminum is just so much more affordable. Any info is appreciated.
I have a 2013 model with a Merc Pro XS 115 and I love it. Easy to tow , load and unload and fishes well. I can put it in our small lake one day and fish the big 4 the next. Yes, I would have a big new Ranger 521 if I could afford it but this boat fits my needs and is affordable.

I don't cry when I scuff my aluminum boat. I love my tin boat but man does a fiberglass boat ride and fish nice. All in what you want to spend and what fits your needs

I've been back and forth as much as anybody I know.. Aluminum boat will float across stuff glass boat will hang on.... but glass is so much better in even the smallest winds.. my conclusion.. Everyman needs both!
Always had tin. I bought a 19 1/2 glass triton in February. The glass is superior in every way so far, except cost. However, I think I'm going to keep my 176 PolarKraft for the small lake, shallow water fishing. So....... my suggestion is one of each![emoji16]Quote:

I have a Skeeter 20I and I love it. I also have a Wareagle 1648 that I mainly use when pulling crankbaits. On the Big 4, when the wind is up, there is no comparison between glass and tin. The Wareagle beats me to death on rough days, especially the ride to and from the landing.
Is there a particular reason you use the war eagle for pulling Cranks instead of your other boat?Quote:

Not many Carolina Skiffs on the water I fish, but there are a lot of features like the deep vertical sides that I like on the big water. My old aluminum LA Traveler was a lot lighter and faster, but I think I will stick to fiberglass from now on. I can patch it up a lot easier than fixing aluminum too!
Like my bay boat. I'm just careful with it in the stumps. The ONLY time I've hurt it was at Grenada and it was my fault. Going to fast and hit stump. It's wide, has plenty of room and no carpet. Just spray some bleach mix on it, let it set 15 minutes and pressure wash it. easy clean up
I currently have an aluminum boat, Tracker 175. Great fishing boat for what I do. The plans for the next boat is fiberglass once the finances allow and I am willing to wait. Then I will be able to fish big and small, high and low winds.
Call Big river (BRM) he has plenty of boats and he got the good stuff.
What Slabin said....BMR will do you right. He's got a decent selection of about anything you'd want, or can get it. I personally fish out of a 1999 Xpress 56, and for the limited amount of fish aggravating I do, that's good enough for my needs. Had a smaller Tracker, but the Xpress is bigger, heavier and that 1999 model is built like a tank for a tin boat. IF I ever get a different boat, doubt I'll buy a new one, but if I did I'd remortgage the house and get a War Eagle....yeah, pretty sure that's what I'd do.
I sold my bass boat and bought a Pontoon boat and will never go back, room to move around and much more comfortable to fish out of, on windy days we drop an anchor and drag it to slow us down, works great I have different sizes of anchors so I can control the speed in the wind. Its a fishing champ.

Yes, I dont get as much run time from my batteries on the Skeeter. Even though it's a 36 volt system, I dont think I can get 5 or 6 hours running 1.6 mph. Ive never tried it, lol, but have researched it. Im not going to Idle my 250 for that length of time. On the Wareagle, I have trolled for 8-9 hours without problems, being a much lighter boat. I have owned Ranger, skeeter, Venture, monarch glass boats. Sold all of them when I started training retrievers...I have a Triton 176 aluminum boat that serves me well..to me, it boils down to floor plan that fits the way you intend to fish...there are allot of good boats out there.
