I'm not all that convinced that the fish are "spooked" by transducer signal, anymore than they would be by the presence of the boat above them, or even the combination of the two ... especially on waters that have a lot of traffic & fishing pressure. Now, I'm sure there are times that sonar signals do "alert" the fish & maybe even spook them to some degree ... but, during those times, the splash of a jig or float or even the sight of those things flying overhead of the fish might also spook the fish (like in very shallow water and/or very clear water).
