This is supposed to be floating plastic. The two inch lures shoot great. I love how they turned out. I am also experimenting with a new color. I am having problems because they will not float a #6 lite wire hook. Any suggestions?

Surprised it did not float. It is floating a 5/0 hook on a 4" frog. Guess these is where area x force comes into play.

I was using the M - F Dry Floating Plastic Bounce Formulation. The lure sank quickly in the test bucket and did not float the lure. Which formulation were you using my friend? I have not tried the other bottle of "Super Soft Plastic" yet. I will be trying it tomorrow.

Thank you my friend. I will try the other bottle of plastic tomorrow.
I do think the area of the bait would affect it how it floats. Frogs are lot wider.
Have not shot any small baits I just went right to the frogs. Our bass have been clobbering frogs for the last couple of weeks. Wanted to get some made to go try and see how plastic holds up.

I repeated the test using the M - F "Super Soft Plastic" instead of using the M - F Dry Floating Plastic Bounce Formulation as I did in the first tests. I again made the same identical two inch minnow using the M - F "Super Soft Plastic."Quote:

Once again, just like the lure I tested with the M - F Dry Floating Plastic Bounce Formulation, the test showed the lure WILL NOT float with a #6 fine wire hook inserted in it.

I need help from somebody wiser than me to solve the problem of why it will float without the hook in it, but will not float once the lite wire #6 hook is inserted. Thank you all for your advice in advance.

Since I have not yet tried this M-F floating Plastic, but have been following their results, I have to agree with BigB
IMO (Stepping out of the box) feel it could be a math issue meaning:
The material used has a certain floating characteristic formula in which case different molds may have a larger area than others creating more buoyancy to the product.
Hear again if you compare it to a float, to much weight will sink it so there has to be a balance
M-F may have what limitation of area vs weight you need for this product to stay afloat

Finally success. I combined the minnow I made with the M-F Soft plastic AND a hard foam fish pill floatie from another manufacturer. The result is an extremely light presentation that Crappies and deep water Perch will easily inhale. Total cost of the rig is less than five cents to create. I like that.Quote:
