Greenwood 2-23

I installed my spyderlok yesterday Attachment 259384 and couldn't wait, so I saddled up and headed to Greenwood. I did everything that Don taught me (he ties a much better loop knot than I); he is my sensei. Fished down the reedy and up the saluda. Ran into white bass first; caught 4 with 3 on at once. Then the crappie started around 1:00. Caught five; this is the best of the group. Attachment 259385 I thought not bad for first fishing in 16 years and never longlining before.

I tried to find common factors with the only thing in common on all 9 fish was I was moving down wind. Is there anything to that?

I am now addicted to the point I'm headed back tomorrow.

It's my observation that more bites are had while trolling with the wind. I believe the wind causes current. The fish face into the current to ambush prey that is washed into their strike zone. While trolling jigs with the wind, you are mimicking this phenom.

Buddy I am sure glad you caught fish on your first try. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine. I am still having a hard time putting a number of fish in the boat. 4 or 5 has been my limit. Going to fish Murray tomorrow and see if I can change my luck. Thanks for sharing. Don

I love longlining, by far my favorite way to fish.

I have never been to Greenwood but I hear it is a good lake for longlining. I'll be up that way this weekend and may try it if the weather lets me. Ain't got a clue where to fish but it beats the heck out of working!!!!!

I'm just a rookie, so far be it from me to recommend anything; but where the Reedy channel meets the Saluda channel (just below Harris Landing) seems to always be covered up in boats. It's where I've had my modest success.
