Never been to Evergreen but looking for a new place to go a few times a year. Is the crappie there worth the 1 hour drive? Blow downs to fish?
If you like them 8 3/4 yes
the lake has lots of 9-10" crappie with the chance of a bigger fish. it has a 10hp limit and a large launch fee. $14.00 daily $40 yearly. one of my favorite lakes to fish
It's $48 bucks for the boat sticker for the year it's a 10 hp lake. I fish it and love the place. I've caught them over 8-3/4 plus the walleye sauger are a bonus
It's a fun lake with lots of options for techniques. I think it's worth it
10 hp limit does not bother me. I have learned to have a boat for any lake size :ThumbsUp I just want a decent place to go with my daughter a few times a year. I have a 12 ft lake jon with a Merc 9.8 that should handle that water.
Thank you all. I think I will give it a go. :fish
If you enjoy fishing new waters, then by all means, go play on Evergreen for a day.
IMO, fishing is about enjoying the experience and maybe the companionship of
your partner. My partners and I travel 1 & 1/2 hrs to Evergreen and we try to have
fun and catch a few fish. We haven't broke the 10" mark yet, but we have fun!
Good luck have fun
The bigger fish are in there. I too like to fish Evergreen. There is more trees in that water than you can imagine.
There is no lake map either. None of the mapping companies have it on their chips. If you want a map, you have to map it yourself. I highly recommend you do that. There is tons of structure below the water that you will never find otherwise.
Swing by the Rangers office to buy your boat permit and ask them for a laydown map. Every year they drop new cover and mark it on a map. The maps are free for the asking. It will give you some places to start fishing.
Depending on when you go, I might be able to meet you and give you some places to try as well.
Hanr3...I would enjoy meeting you. I am just beginning to get back into lake fishing. Have not done that in a few years. Mainly rock quarries and borrow pits. I do miss the lakes though.
Thanks all!
Anytime. Just let me know in advance.
Anyone had any luck on Evergreen yet this year? What is the water temp now? Thinking about giving it a shot Saturday morning...
