On the Corp lakes you are allowed to use 3 poles while trolling, any poles over 2 have to be labeled with your name and address. There really isn't a 2 pole limit by the state on city lakes, they just have imposed that limit themselves
Ice fishing and trolling state you may use three rods with no more than two hooks each. Says nothing about being tagged.
SPORTFISHING LICENSE A sport fishing license entitles an angler to harvest fish, crayfish, turtles or bullfrogs within limits denoted in the Statewide Harvest and Size Limits Table, except for endangered and threatened aquatic life. It is unlawful to sell any aquatic life, or parts thereof, taken by a sport fishing license. Aquatic life may be taken by hand or other legal devices permitted by the sport fishing license which includes: pole and line, bank pole and line, dip net throw line, trot line, buoyed device (jug fishing), or other legal devices not exceeding 50 hooks in total (except as noted under “Ice Fishing” section). Also permitted are legal-sized cast nets, shad scoops and minnow seines for bait fishing. Smelt may be taken in Lake Michigan with legal size dip nets, gill nets and seines. Two untagged sport fishing devices are allowed; each device in excess of two must be tagged with the angler’s name and address. If attached to a tree, the device must be attached only to the main trunk below the water line. All unattended devices must be marked with the angler’s name and address.
TROLLING Trolling is permissible, provided the angler has not more than three poles and lines with not more than two hooks or lures on each.
How do you tag your rods. Getting ready to go to Rend for the first time. Don't want to get into trouble
I am not a fan wish it would be eliminated really dislike when watching pros fishing this way. Not a big fan of trolling either but to each there own as long as it is legal. Also don't care to watch fishing shows with guides and pros loading coolers with fish I would think that with there knowledge of the lakes they fish and the amount they fish that on the shows they would catch and release. If you need a meal or some for the freezer great but when you fish for a living I doubt that you lack for fresh fish. When we destroy the resource then we complain about the limits applied. just my opinion.
I've not seen a show that keeps all the fish ? I've watched some that do keep a few to eat most of these then cook these same fish on the show sharing a recipe. I pull cranks I spider rig single pole jig. You name it I'm no pro not even a average fisherman. I enjoy fishing and teaching my kids as well as learning from others
Nothing better than spending the day on the lake then a good meal cooked outside and hanging out around the camp fire with friends and family Just my 2 cents
unattended i dont believe counts toward trolling,i think this is for tip ups jugs yoyos etc.most state sites say 2 poles only.you can bring as many as you like but can only fish 2 at a time.you can only have 2 hooks on an umbrella rig

Its right here, I don't think it gets much clearer

It seems to me that it is "quite clear" to you in your interpretation. I am in no way attacking you since you do throw a very good party and cook awesome steaks!
However you do seem to be stuck on one paragraph of the book which never mentions "pole and line". I can find two paragraphs that specifically point out the term "pole and line" that state you may use three poles with two hooks each. Neither of these paragraphs say anything in regards to tagging any of said equipment.
I realize that my own idea of the S.O.I. while being in a state of never ending stupidness would surely not require a pole in your immediate possession to be tagged with your name and address.
I can assure you I am going to the IDNR to get a answer on this.
These game laws are written in such a way that anyone trying to follow them will run afoul.
Same here not attacking you either, and hope your coming to spring camp.
I asked a game
warden this very question I think it was at the state fair last year at their booth and was told if you are trolling with 3 rods one of them have to be labeled. Stupid law if you ask me
As far as an umbrella rig go, you can use the ones that have 5 hook and use 2 at a time. I asked a game warden about that and was told it falls under the category of trout lines.
all i can say is 4 years til retirement and the state my family has lived since before this was a state will be in my rear view mirror.
spider rigging is a technique, you can use as many poles as allowed.
:ThumbsUp
IDNR fishing regulations states you can use 3 poles with no more than two hooks each for trolling.

lol.
Got any left?
Someone please explain your size limit on crappies at Rend. Your allowed to keep up to 25? But is there a slot limit on size? So many over 10" or so many under 10"? Out of the 25 total? Or am I misunderstanding your Regs?
On Rend you can have 25 fish per person with no more than ten of them being over 10".
I thought that what was I was reading in comparing your regs to Ours. Do you see that working to the size of the crappies your catching on Rend?
From my perspective it has improved the quality of fish.
Why does it matter as long as they are not keeping more than their limit?? Spider riggin is my favorite way to fish. Oh don't get me wrong I love vertical jig fishing also but if I can sit on my butt with several poles out and still catch fish then im all about it. Just because people spider rig don't mean they go out and slay them every time. That's not how it always works.

good fisherman catch big fish, that's why I catch little ones,
Naw just normal banter back and forth
