Some may disagree with this, but if you want high quality spinning reels for a 1/4 of the cost as you would pay locally, go to eBay and order them directly from China. It takes about a month to get them if you select the free shipping method, but it's well worth it. You can get 10 ball bearing reels for 8 bucks, or 14 ball bearing reels for 14 bucks. I have ordered over 20 the last year or so and have not been disappointed at all.
Out of the reels i have, i think the best bang for the buck is the pflueger patriarch and shimano stradic ci4+. You can get the blue patriarch on ebay for alot less now and tackle warehouse has the stradic on sale. There is also a seller on ebay in australia that sells shimano sustain for about $190 because of the exchange rate. The reel is $330 stateside.
David, I don't buy to many reels these days. I work for the county at the waste recycle center and they come to me free. I get all sorts of rods and reels. I have given more away than I keep but I do keep a few good ones. Shakespeare, Quantum, Garcia / Mitchells, Shimano and lots of Zebco. Some brand new with price tags still on them. My best are what ever I rig up. LOL I do like the Shakespeare 3 ball bearing on my long poles.:highfive
:yikes
Dayum you made me about choke on my beer !!!! if spent $190 on a reel and told my wife it was a deal that they sale normally $330 !!! I would probably have a larger medical bill surgically removing her Filipino foot out my arse !!!:Rofl I stick with my Shimano 2000IX they work great for crappie fishing !!!!
I can't ever say I got a deal and spend that much money. My wife knows what I get at work! :bash
I would be with stormwalker in the emergency room!:Rofl
YEAH ME TOO
That's good to hear Tim. Ive always been sorta scared of them but may look at them for future needs. Thanks for that tip.
I always look at the $10-$15 spinning reels (cheap ones) that are light duty and have a large diameter center spool. The smaller diameter spools seems to cause more curling memory to your line IMO. All of mine are probably 1 or 2 ball bearing reels but they have decent drags and that's what is important to me.
dont get me wrong that my wife doesnt complain, just got to sensitize them to how bad it could be. Buy a shimano stella or daiwa exist =) lol j/k
Yea....let's see.....14 stellas = roughly $14500 bucks!:yikes:biggrin:Rofl:Rofl
I JUST ORDERED 2 FROM BASS PRO $ 42.00 FOR BOTH

Yard Sale ! you get some super steals sometimes !@
I love the Amazon knockoffs like Kast King and Piscifun.
The past few years I have bought a number of Pflueger Supreme's and really like it. They used to come with a spare spool and cloth case for it but the last time I bought one it no longer did and was a little disappointment with that. Might try a new one next time.
new pfluger president came to me today, 40bucks and free shipping on walmart, many on this site had recommended them being reliable and good value. seems like a solid deal.
BASS PRO QUICK DRAW SPINNING AND TINY LITE SPINNING
THOUGHT ABOUT TRYING ONE OF THOSE FLY REELS ALSO

Can't go wrong with a Pflueger president. I have 2 and love them!!

Here are the two reels I have purchased on eBay directly from China. These reels are great, and extremely cheap. The 12 BB can be bought for less than 10.00 bucks each, I just bought 12 of them for a friend a couple of days ago after he liked mine so much. I paid a whopping 103.00 bucks for all, and got free shipping. The 14 BB are more, I bought 8 more of these as well, they are 14.00 and some change each. You just can't beat those prices anywhere. There's no tax, and free shipping. The only knock on this purchase, it takes a month or so to get them as they have to go through customes.

If you're looking for deals on rods and live near an Ollie's store they are getting ready for their "fishing blowout" sale. I saw boxes and boxes of Shimano Spinning Reels ranging from 10 bucks for the smaller ones to 25 bucks for the big Saltwater looking ones. I almost wish i would have waited befor i bought my Lews now lol.

I am impressed with the lews though, muscled in a 2 foot bowfin last weekend with no issues. I dont plan on catching anything that big ever but its good to know that i can lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b9e70e60d3.jpg

I agree with the earlier post. I have changed over everything I have to Shimano IX 1000Rs. They are about 15 bucks. Have a good drag on the rear so easy to get to and I have yet to have one tear up. I bought a few extra for spares and they are all still in the box. Best $15 reel out there imo. Amazon has them, Bass Pro, and Walmart online.
i prefer shimano. the sedona is a good lower priced reel 60 bucks. i personally use stradics. like someone else said if your patient go through ebay and get em from china. ive done it several times. it the exact same product no difference in quality. warrenty is the same.
