Titling Motor from Ill a nightmare! dealing with MO registration office who have

no clue as to how to do this properly. screwed up boat trailer registration and told me I didn't have to title register motor of it was attached and had wheel, which of course I knew was wrong but they blew me off. after contacting jeff city who told me to use same form, which is VERY confusing and does NOT detail anything, went back to same office. now they say have to have bill of sale, when there is no BOS for this as they don't title motors in IL. FRUSTRATED.

now had to have attorney re issue yet another BOS and go thru process again. anyone have any experience getting title for motor when state bought didn't require it?

just don't pay with a credit or debit card and get charged a convenience fee on top of your frustration

From Il. Any written bill of sale will do even if written on a old envelope.

You can print up a bill of sale on your computer and take it back over there and get it signed. Don't forget to take your fishing tackle also.:ThumbsUp

called lawyer and his assistant is sending me a third BOS with the motor broken out, that should solve it but still damn frustrating. thanks guys for letting me vent

What a PITA

Bought our boat in Wisconsin took 4 months to get it all done. Had to get a hold of constituent services with our locle state representative,

i bought a boat one time from a friend's dad, an old 16ft starcraft. it wasnt an out of state deal, but didnt have a title. the original owner had passed, it sold at his estate auction with no paperwork other than the receipt, which was long lost. i tried for months to get the dnr to help me out, no luck. finally, one day i called the main office of the dnr.
lady: "hello, this is diane, how may i help you?"
me: "hello diane, my name is brian. i would like to speak with darrell."
lady: "...i'm sorry sir, there is no one in this office by that name."
me: "that's odd, are you sure? i just called the local dnr station and they said they couldn't help, but i should call this number and ask for darrell, because he is the only guy down there with the ability to help me out."
lady: "i can assure you, sir...there is no one here named darrell. i can FURTHER assure you that i have been working here for 10 years and i can do anything "darrell" can do. how may i help you?"

had my title and registration in 5 days.

Now that story appeals to my devious nature!

Had a bit of an issue selling my bass boat to a young man in Illinois, so it can go both ways. They held him up wanting a lein release from me, there was never one to be had so we had to get a financial institution to draft a doc saying there was no lein. Not sure they cared who it may have been from. Then they challenged him over the BOS price. Guess I gave the young man too good a deal. Wanted another signed BOS from me saying the same thing. Called a lady on the phone and moved on. So, it goes around and around.

DMV where common sense is an unknown quantity.

Final outcome, got BOS changed to include motor at minimal number. went as expected with DMV having no common sense and that I had paid for all the sales tax already, bit the bullet and paid the minimal sales tax on motor and gotrdone!
