This is probably a long shot. Does anybody here have a 2006 skeeter trx 200 ? I bought two helix 12's and was looking for the optimum place for the transom transducer for side imaging. The quality of picture I was getting from the 798 side imaging I have now was not optimal. Thanks

Most high performance hulls opt for a shoot thru 2d xducer inside the bilge for high speed depth readings and then mount the more expensive SI xducer higher on the transom for idle speed scanning ...
If you prefer to use the SI xducer alone - you may have to go a little lower on the step (lower than your existing xducer) because the xducer will be out of the water on plane when turning left or in rougher water ...

Gosh. Decisions decisions. I usually just use the electronics for finding fish and structure. Just use my eyeballs and experience for high speed travel. So I will just be using them at basically low speed. In your opinion, is that a good spot for the transducer? Or would you put it on the jackplate? I would think there would be a lot more bubbles by the jackplate. But what do I know.
Your location will be fine for slow speed scanning ...
The dual xducer setup is used when high speed depth readings are necessary and the installation is challenging in getting the SI xducer low enough on the hull so that the SI xducer is not out of the water on plane ...
And mounting the SI xducer higher can protect the expensive SI xducer from damage (if your waters are stump filled or lots of trash) ...

Got my helix's in the mail today and started the install. Got the old units taken out, a livewell pump leak fixed, and installed new 3 bank onboard charger. The old charger had a bank that quit working. I sent the transom mount transducer that came with the helix 12 di to hummmingbird to exchange it for the trolling motor mounted one. The 571 that I had flush mounted on the bow will go on the garage shelf. But I thought I would put the 798 ci hd in its place flush mounted on the bow, so I can use it when I eventually add the 360 to the helix 12 on the bow. I do have a question of course. Can I also have the 798 networked with the other helix on the bow using the TM transducer? I do understand that it probably won't have side imaging capabilities. The transducer they are sending me is a xtm 9 wide di 20t. Trolling motor mount with shield.

Crud..... pictures are sideways....sorry......got the units mounted. Front transducer installed. Going to wire them up tomorrow, wasn't happy with the voltage readings I was getting up front. Going to wire them directly to the battery. Ordered a jackplate transducer bracket for the rear transducer. I just couldn't find a place on the transom I was happy with.
