My recommendation - get something about 6 feet with a very fast tip. I have a rod with fast tip that I spend my time watching the tip when I'm vertical jigging for that very faint tap - and the rest of the rod has the muscle for a quick set instead of having to put a lot of bend in the rod before the set is made. Just my thoughts - others may vary.
A lot of people use long rods like 9 or 10 foot for single pole jigging. What length are you looking for? I looked at Dicks online and they had all sorts of rods listed. I mostly use a 10' Shakespeare for jigging and spider rigging from my kayak but also use some 7' light and UL Shakespeare from Walmart for jigging.
A 10 ' B&M Bucks Crappie Jig Pole(BCJP) is very light and sensitive but will haul the biggest slab out of cover. Another excellent choice is Ed's Southern Crappie Rods. A 10' rod would be good choice.
b/m custom or Sam Heaton . I prefer 12 ft. rods but both of these come in a 10 ft. model .
I like the Sam Heaton 10'

I like my 10' from Gander mountain
I just mostly bank fish so I have a question for y'all. Why so long?
If you are fishing from a boat, the extra length lets you drop the jig in the brush or lily pads without running the trolling motor right on top of them. This is especially important when fishing in shallow water.
Damion I to like to bank or dock fish and find the longer pole lets you cast easier if you like a fixed bobber or you can cover more cover on shore or on a dock.
thanks head.
You really want something for casting jigs. Find a good 7' UL or L with a fast tip that will let you cast the light weight jigs a good distance. When we get you hooked on kayak fishing you can pick up a 10' rod for dipping around the tree tops.
Thanks for the help flintcreek.you kinda understand where I'm coming from.lol.didnt get off in time tonight to go look.work messes up everything. Lol
