Looking for opinions on line, mostly in the 2lb area. I always used cortland camo in 4lb but I don't think they make anything other than fly lines anymore and I want to try a 2lb line.

Are you talking mono or braid ... and 2lb test or 2lb "diameter" ??
2lb test. Mostly mono or flouro.

I like PLine Original blue 2#. Just ordered some Vicious 2# Hi-Vis to try so I can see how to tie it easier . Gillchaser
I like Trilene XL in mono. Cant find a reason to switch mono brands except on my trolling rods with hi viz. Have tried many brands and keep coming back to Trilene XL.
I like Maxima Chameleon. It's been used all over the world for decades.
Also, a true 2# line is very thin (.12mm or .005"). Another option is 3# line (.15mm or .006"). Maxima comes in both 2# and 3#.
Vicious 2#...caught a 10# channel cat.. He could actually tow the light 14ft Jon boat
2lb Izorline XXX
Bass pro shop excel(mono) . 4/6 lb. I guess they make 2 lb . I intend to try nanofil in the 2 lb. test .
I use 2lb all the time for crappie and gills and my preference is 2lb trout sos
Trout Magnet SOS 2# test line.
Regards
I like Nanofil but seeing it floats, using a leader would probably be best for light jigs
zebco 4 lb clear on my lighter set ups .....:Rofl
and I aint kidding either !

Never having tried 2lb I'm wondering if I should make the switch myself. I bought some power pro slick 2lb and will use a 4lb Stren leader for now and will try something smaller when I can find it. BPS nearby doesn't have any 2lb I could find on the shelves, and didn't know what Nanofil was. Go figure. Looking forward to seeing the casting distance on the smaller line. I hope I didn't just throw a twenty out the window.
I'll have to look. Thanks DBD
I have used 2 lb for years..if I were fishing a clear line..It would be Bass Pro Tourney Tough..My go to line is Hi Vis Vicious 2#..Both have landed fish over 10#
I use straight mono 8 lbs test. I do a lot of trolling with a handline. I need the strength. I also tie a shock leader into the leader itself to act as a shock absorber.
Fishing waters around here that are not overly snaggy, I've made the switch to braid from Trilene XL. So now, for the past 4 seasons, I've been using Fireline Crystal 2# test for my main line, with a 4' fluorocarbon leader of 4# test. The fireline lasts and lasts and castability is exceptional as well. Cuts through the water nice for trolling, with little bow in the line. Sensitivity is excellent.
I use the fluorocarbon leader for abrasion resistance and as a shock absorber. Casting & trolling 1/16 - 1/8 oz. jigs. I'll never go back to straight mono now! :)
I just want to thank everyone that suggested the 2lb trout magnet sos line, got to try casting it with 1/64oz jigs today and I easily get 30-40' casts which is really more than I need for targeting bluegills.

As I said earlier, I have never used any 2lb line of any kind. Last Sunday I took the new light rod with the Nanofil 2lb for a first experience. It was more than good. The 150 yds that came on the spool half filled the President 6920, and that, in my opinion, kept the line from falling off the spool and making the nightmare birdsnest that I've experienced with other braids. Casting was like nothing I have ever used before. Effortless. No abrasion resistance at all. At .002 there just isn't much to wear through. Braid isn't for everyone but it really worked well for me, and landed a 3 1/2lb catfish. My next trip will have a 4 or 5 foot 4lb leader cuz with it being so little, the jig falls noticeably faster and the fish teeth weakened the knot and it broke twice with the fish in the net thrashing around.. So was my experience, 29 fish total, and I think I'll be buying some more in 4lb for the 6'6" medium light rod.
Since I use handlines only, my rig requires more explanation. I use three lines:
30# Sunset Amnesia mono for backing
27# leadcore line (Want to switch to full sinking fly line)
20# mono (preferably Amnsesia, but straight mono is fine)
8# mono (again Amnesia prefered since I use 24 foot leaders)
This is my trolling rig. It's quite effective on bluegill rigged on a paternoster rig. The rig works much like a fly rod: Fly rods have backing, fly line, and leader and tippet. I have backing, main weighted line, shank and a furled leader, all by hand.
