Fin & Feather Resort and Marina on Toledo Bend. It's about 5 miles down the road from me. They have some cabins and they have a nice restaurant as well as dock. Toledo Bend has been voted the best Bass lake in the country 2 years in a row and the crappie fishing is great!
Oh and I am about 150 miles from the Houston airport or North Houston.

X2 on Fin and Feather. I have a place close to Skip, but still living on North side of Houston. It's around 163 miles, and 2.5 to 3 hour drive. I go up almost every weekend. When are you coming down?

Got 42 off of the dock this weekend. Big fat ones too. Using jigs.

Might check out Somerville. They have a huge crappie dock at one of the marinas, and I'm sure there are places to stay nearby too.
Good to see you found some good ones. Congrats.
I have bud that fishes lake Houston and whacks them regularly there as well
Nice crappies
The crappie here are turned on! One guy told me on a few jigs he got from me did really well last weekend. Said that he caught 3 crappie that were 16" and all except one of his keepers were male and only the one female, another good sign that my boat should have been in a couple weeks ago, lol! Also are the big bass as last week a guy caught a 10 pound bass on 6 pound line and a crappie jig, lol! Then Friday a guy caught 2 bass over 10 pounds only hours apart.

I can tell you that lake conroe has some of the biggest slabs around...been fishing conroe for crappie for 20 years and I'd say my solid average is 13inches....just went last Sunday for an hour with the family and got 10, smallest was 11, most were 13 and 14, biggest was 151/2
I agree conroe has become a big party lake in the summer, luckily they stay near the south end, I primarily fish the north end, which is untouched by building and people...looks like all beautiful nature and trees and serenity.....so like you that's what I like...and fortunately that's where I catch all the monster slabs!
Nice pictures

Skip --- the limit on Crappie was changed -- what is the new Limit sir
Well here on Toledo Bend the limits on crappie have always been 50 per person per day and a 10" minimum on them except from I think November through February and then you have to keep what ever size you catch! This was mostly because of the famous hole "The Chicken Coop" where in winter people are fishing 40' down. Then about 2 years back they changed the limits to....25 per person per day and no minimum length. Personally I don't like them taking off the minimum 10" length.
