I bought 1197 from a friend and it has the software of 4.7 I think. I bought the new lakemaster chip for it. After looking I don't think it will work well in it. What is the best chip for it. I need Mississippi and tennessee

The link below will show you what software upgrade is available for your unit from Humminbird; looks like it should be 6.640 after your unit is upgraded you may be able to use your chip.

If not you can find older chip versions here. They have version 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 etc.

Just got in mail today. I am going to boat tomorrow to see if works. Just been reading where people have had problems but not sure what version
Post results after you try the card at the current software level ...
You can verify the software level in the unit by making the "System Status" view visible under the Views tab ...

I don't think the software version will affect the speed of the mapping .... but 6.310 is a good software version for the 1197. I won't take mine beyond that software version dues to some issues with later releases.
If you decide you want to upgrade and can't find 6.310 shoot me a PM.
