You Got That Right! I will refain from jott'n down my opinion of Tubby Smith's coaching ability, or lack there of! The last time I posted my opinion somebody didn't like what I had to say and deleted my post. I used no foul language just stated a fact. You can bet Rupp is rolling over in his grave! :eek:Quote:

Just means we won't miss any fishing time trying to watch them in the NCAA!
You are right, but all you hear from the press is how he came to Ky. and won an NCAA Championship in his first year. Look back at that year. He started out shakey and then when he finally decided that he was wasting his time trying to change the player from the "Patino" style of ball to "Tubby" ball they started winning. He rode Patino's back right to a championship with Patino left overs. It has gone down hill from there! But like you said I don't miss near as many fish'n days as I did when we had a real coach. :D
If ya' think you guys got it bad, I'm a Cincinnati Bearcat fan. It's been a long season.
After 10 seasons, five have had double digit losses. It begins and ends with the coach. He took Pitino's team and one a national championship his first year and hasn't come close since. i never thought i would see the day where vandy beat us in 4 straight games, hats off to them.
We need a change, period. I work directly across from wildcat lodge and memorial, basketball on this campus is too comfortable.
I heard a man on the call in show several weeks ago sum it up this way.
Tubby smith inherited a corvette and turned it into a volkswagon. Rich Brooks inherited a volkswagon, with no engine, and turned it into a midsized sedan.
SOmething has to be done, mitch barnhart has to do it.

The state of UK basketball is sad indeed. When the Cats are not ranked in the top 20 for nearly the entire season things have fallen to a level we old timers do not like very much. We use to own the SEC and now we are just somewhere in the middle of the pack. I still say I'd rather see the team made up of 15 Kentucky boys with heart than players with supposedly better skills from someplace else.
I have found a positive out of all this mess. I will not have to choose between fishing or watching a tournament game. I have been foolish enough in the past I almost had to flip a coin. Not any more. I think what got me was the Morris fiasco. Mr. Rupp or Mr. Hall for that matter would have sent him out the door and wished him well. I think we have never recovered from that mess. At least that is what I think. THE BANDIT
He said after the game that they didn't do what he wanted, which tells me they should be benched ala Joe Hall. I agree with Bandit Morris does not give 100% and in my opinion will soon be trying to go to the NBA again. This time Tubby should take his scholarship and give it to a newcomer like Pitino did with Rhodrick Rhodes.

In the meantime ... DRAIN THE TUB ALREADY. I was fed up years ago, and now it's just plain sickening to watch. On average I used to attend around 4 home games a year, and the annual game in Freedom Hall here in Louisville. This year I've been to 1 and had my father gone with me I would have left that game at the half. We need our pride back. We need our program restored. We need kids who are willing to give 110% for the name on the front of the jersey. We need UK basketball back.
Who would've believed you 10 years ago if you would've said Vanderbilt will be ranked and KY not when they meet. Sad what has happened.
With my son a freshman at Southern Illinois, all I can say is how 'bout them Salukis!!!
With #10 Georgetown going down last night, I'd say the #11 Salukis are now in the top 10.
Notice I didn't say "draft". Try to go means anyway he can doesn't it? At any rate something is not right in the "Big Blue Nation".Quote:

Listening to pocket protector Vitale pontificate on what Tubby Smith has accomplished at UK, I want to add a few facts to the discussion so that the current trend in the direction of the UK program under Coach Smith becomes clear. Vitale has stated that Kentucky "should build a monument to Tubby Smith" well in that case we should terraform the State in the image of Rick Pitino, because Tubby simply does not measure up and in many areas he has reversed the stellar trajectory that Rick Pitino had set us upon:
Percentage of games ranked in top 5:
Tubby 16%
Pitino 59% (53% if you include probation year).
Number of Home losses:
Tubby 19
Pitino 5 (7 if you include probation year).
10+ lo ss seasons:
Tubby 4 (in 7 years - soon to be 5 in 8 )
Pitino 0 (1 if you include probation year)
Average number of losses per year:
Tubby 7.9 (about to push that up over 8 )
Pitino 5.14 (6.25 if you include 14-14 probation year)
Number of games in top 5:
Tubby in 326 games ranked 54 games in top 5
Pitino in 269 games ranked 142 games in top 5
Games played as #1 ranking: Pitino 10 Tubby 4
Games played as #2 ranking: Pitino 44 Tubby 14
Games played as #3 ranking: Pitino 33 Tubby 10
Games played as #4 ranking: Pitino 18 Tubby 15
Games played as #5 ranking: Pitino 37 Tubby 11
Total games with top 5 ranking: Pitino 142 Tubby 54
Team Turmoils:
Tubby 2
Pitino 0
Transfers out of the Program:
Tubby 14
Pitino 7
NBA 1st round draft picks:
Tubby 2
Pitino 10
Rick Pitino’s 1st year 14-14 probation team averaged more than 10 ppg than ANY Tubby Smith team except 2. It average d 8.9 ppg more than those 2 teams:
Rick Pitino - Points per Game
1989-90 88.82
1990-91 85.89
1991-92 85.72
1992-93 87.50
1993-94 86.88
1994-95 87.39
1995-96 91.44
1996-97 83.13
Tubby Smith takes over (lets see what happens to PPG)
1997-98 80.08
1998-99 75.41
1999-00 69.09
2000-01 79.79
2001-02 76.88
2002-03 77.28
2003-04 73.91
2004-05 73.62
2005-06 70.77
2006-07 72.32
Final Fours
Pitino 5 (3 at Kentucky)
Tubby 1 Final Four (a player Tubby Smith has recruited has never been to a FF in his 16 year career at Tulsa, Georgia, or Kentucky)
Championship Games
Pitino 2
Tubby 1 (none with players he recruited)
NCAA Tournament Winning Percentage
Pitino 22-5 (.783)
Tubby is 23-8 (.663)
Tidbits:
* Pitino beat 11 teams seeded 5th or higher in 6 NCAA Tournaments.
* Tubby has beaten 4 teams seeded 5th or higher in 9 NCAA Tournaments, and j ust one since his first season at Kentucky.
Adolph Rupp said that if the Basketball program at the University of Kentucky should fail, then he has built it upon a sand foundation. I hate to see that come true, but with each progressive season under Coach Tubby Smith, the University of Kentucky's foundation has weakened to where it is now at the point of collapse. In his 9 (soon to be 10) years at Kentucky he has nearly destroyed what it took 100 years to build.
Thats Funny, I Could Have Sworn This Was A Crappie Fishing Forum!
No, here is what you said.Quote:

Regardless you are correct. All is not well in Big Blue Nation and it's time for a change. Tubby has proved he cannot get the job done and it's time to find someone who hopefully can.

I fully agree, his future is slowly going bye-bye.
March in Kentucky to me means....Crappie fishing and watching the Cats in the NCAA. Didn't mean to get so sidetracked with the post. Just venting after the loss. I did manage to catch a few slabs today. Brought home 7.
It Is! We're talk'n about how CRAPPIE UK is playing and how they're still fish'n for some wins! :eek:Quote:

Believe me people know! Those facts were all over http://www.firetubbysmith.com a while back. In light of the recent letter issued by Barnhart he is well aware of all the facts and fiction surrounding Smith and the program.Quote:

Go Gators!
I'm root'n for Louisville until Tubby leaves!!!
Well do you think he' gone or not? I'm worried they'll tell him to make some staff changes and keep him around for a while longer. From the sounds of it he doesn't have any good prospects for next year. Jody Meeks is by far the stand out player on that team.
Tubby Smith, leaves UK to accept the head position of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. ANd the people said........
