Thinking of heading to Woodruff myself this weekend, good luck to you.
Plenty left.... They only took 7....:Rofl
If you can't find any crappie between Astor and Woodruff this time of year, consider sewing. I haven't heard of anyone that hasn't done well lately. Good luck and enjoy your stay and let us know how it all goes for you. You're bound to run into one or two of us in the week you're here.
Where are you staying in Astor, I will be there 2/25 - 3/12. I have heard the water is low. I'm interested in the depth of the no wake zone between Lake Dexter and Lake Woodruff. JC
Will be staying at the former Big Bass Camp at the bridge. Can,t believe water level is that low.Thought Fla was having plenty of rain. That stretch will be tough to manuver.
No rain in Florida and none in forecast. Hope we get some soon or we gonna be on fire again.
I've got a tent site booked at Highlands Park Fish Camp Friday-Sunday.
I'll be the crazy looking feller fishing out of a mud boat with a longtail. It's quite a sophisticated rig.
4 of us arriving Sunday with a black triton and a silver basstracker...2 more arriving wed with a blue triton...possibly 2 more during the week...wish i was there now.....all i want to catch is one and the trip will be worth it...of course if i catch more that will be ok too..

That actually is a sophisticated rig, lots going on there. Good rig that will go more places than mine will.
I'm in the middle of building a pontoon, so I didn't wanna do anything permanent to this thing, as I will mainly use it for hunting/skinny water fishing/river running.
I don't have a smart trolling motor for it, so I just lock it in as straight as I can get, I stand in the back and use the longtail as a rudder to keep us from blowing off course or anything. The biggest issue is how bad the wind blows me around.
Have someone sit there and watch the rods, I net the fish and help if we get a double.
Works out pretty good, but boy do I get some funny looks :Rofl
People always look at you funny when you are pulling in more fish then them.
Any reports from today? I'm interested in the water level going from Dexter to Woodruff.
I was there this weekend and there is a spot about a football field or so that is only 1 fow between Dexter and Woodruff. I estimate the water level is down 3 feet.
I was hoping to hear some reports from Woodruff.
Tried to fish woodruff Saturday morning, I caught one decent fish before the wind blew my little boat off the lake, I think Sunshine caught two before he had to run for cover. We fished the run back to Highland Park and I totaled 11 keeper fish for the day.
I did notice 7 fow seemed to be the ticket, Most were caught on minnows and the only plastic to get attention was red and white.
good luck and let us know how you do.

I fished Woodruff Sat and Sunday. Both days the bite was better in the river, or I never found the fish. Everyone was starting in the SW corner of the lake, but it's only 4-5ft deep.
Was tough fishing. 10 of the 16 I cleaned had roe in them.
redeli, We are waiting for your report. I'm coming from Ohio, I'll be in Astor 2/25 - 3/12. I hope there is enough water to put my boat in the slip. What does it look like down there? JC
