Hey John I think the chirp is just to catch fishermen. I just bought a garmin 9 in chirp 93sv with side scan and down scan 750.00 from the garmin factory store. You should check them out and see if they still have them and I will guarantee you want regret it.

I been shopping too. Cant make my mind up.
I have always used HBs and I have a 5" Helix on my TM, but I also have a 7" Lowrance HDS touchscreen and I absolutely love it.
Hds are awesome
Gen 3 are so horrible expensive I'll never buy one

With humminbird having generation 2 and mega imaging on new units, the gen 1 helix are coming down in price and can be bought used. I like my helix 10
I think if I were to get another DF it would be a Helix on the upper scale. 10 or higher. My brother has the Helix 9 and I like it especially the down image. I saw Newly's pictures on his Helix 10 and it is very convincing. I'd just have to save all the change I find at work until I had enough to pay for one. :)
