Cross Lake is on fire!!!!!! Paw paw slew is the place to be!
Left em biting!!! Ready for off day to get some more
Nice, I see you got a couple of chinks in there too! Thanks for posting.
Very nice
Nice catch! I am thinking about going tomorrow, are they back in the woods in the creek channel? Any jig suggestions?

I caught them close to the banks with a 10ft ultra light Buck's rod. Jig colors are black@green, blue ice, monkey milk and electric chicken.
Nice catch, how far in Paw Paws did u go! And how deep! I have never caught a fish on there or maybe I haven't been in the right spot any info to help me put the kiddos on some fish would be highly appreciated
There is no particular play to start. But just start when you start seeing boats. Then fish all the way to the back and turn around and do the same. Fish 2 to 3 feet around every piece of brush and logs that you see. Wait for the thump!
That's amazing. Paw Paw was producing crappie, along with barfish during their spring run, like that back when I was in high school! That's over half a century ago, in case it matters!). It's nice to be updated like that on a few favorite old spots, even if I will probably never fish them again. Thanks Mr. Thump!
It's suppose to be windy Sunday but I think we're going to try them. It's been a while since we've been up in there but I'm pumped! The wind shouldn't be too bad in there.

Good job, I'm headed back out this morning to Cross Lake. Looking for some hogs!!!!!
Didn't have many hogs. Most were 9 or10 inches. There was two of us fishing, Cajun cricket with orange head

Good catch. I like it when they're on the wood.

Hey Rusty I'm going to have to meet you out there one day, I need someone to show me the rope! I must be doing something wrong, I have never caught anything in PawPaws! I've been doing really good in Barrons pocket though!
Nice box of fish right there.
Sure thing. I guess water temp has the most effect on them. Some days they'll be right on the bottom of the channel on some structure, some days on the edges and on occasion they are up in the shallow slews when the water is warmer.

Those are nice slabs you going out there tomttow ?
Hey rusty you gonna be out by pawpaws bayou tomorrow
They still biting in there ? And have you caught any over 2 pounds there
I have to work this weekend but plan to go somewhere Tuesday. That was the first time this year to fish in there. I don't recall catching too many if and 2lb plus fish in PawPaws in the past. I really like spider rig drifting at Cypress, but with the warmer water temps I imagine they have moved up a little and I don't know where they go there.
A friend and I each took our boats out there today around 11:00. Neither of us caught the first crappie. I hung a small white bass. Several around were pulling out the same. I saw a few good fish caught here and there. Seems it just wasn't the day for Paw Paw. Think I might go back to Cypress tomorrow and try 'em out.
Yeah man it was tough I went to the bridge by Barron's and I couldn't get a bite wore them out there last week. Then I figured I'd try Pawpaw's so I went there from 10 to 1 -!; only had one bite it was disappointing
I'm sure I passed you at some point then. What were you in? I was following my friend. We both had Tracker 170s. He was catching them pretty good mid week. The cold front must have put the brakes on that. Welcome to C.c by the way!
Yeah I'm sure I did I was in the 14ft G3 25 hp motor. I fished up and down couldn't find a bite lol. I've been living here my whole life just got into crappie fishinh about 2 years ago I've just never had luck on cross usually go to Texas to fish Martin creek , murvaul and pines but here lately I've been trying to stay local trying to figure out cross I know where they are at times but the bite doesn't stay consistent. So far just the bridge by Barron's. I usually just go out alone if y'all ever wanna fish together I'm down. I'm 22 years old basically all I do is work and fish for crappie. Glad I found this crappie .com it's been great so far
I don't know Cross Lake at all. I only fished on it a handful of times with friends and it's been at least 15 years since I was on it last. Seems the common motto is when it's on, it's on, and you better be where it's happening because it doesn't last. I just got back into fishing back in Sept after a ten year hiatus. Today was the worst it's been so far. Can't get anything but better now. Lol
Sad to here paw paw slowed down. I've wasted a whole week on Caddo lake with my uncle. I may go after church today and see since no football is on but most definitely go tomorrow if not today. Also I'm gonna try 40&8 at Johnsons. I'll let y'all know the report .
There's one spot between Johnson's and where you start into pawpaws that turns on at times. It's a four way crossing of two boat roads with a big duck blind on the south West corner.

The warm week ahead should get 'em fired back up. I fished Cypress today. They had lock jaw there too. Caught two dinks and a tiny white bass. That's two more crappie than I caught on Paw Paw though. It was rough out there today though. Wind was a blowin' son!
Who's going to cross on Saturday?
So fish towards the duck blind? I think this up coming weekend they'll be back on. There were tons of boats out there Saturday it was ridiculous .
I may go out there next weekend. Not sure. If I do, I'm bringing my GoPro. Never seen so many boats in such a tight area. That was crazy.
Yeah man I'll be out there Saturday and Sunday. I drove all the way from Barron's with a 25 hp motor to Pawpaw's lol that's was a rough ride where did y'all launch out of ?
We launched at Fleming. It's a longer drive for me to Fleming, but it's worth it rather than run all the way from Barron's.
Yeah it's a longer drive for me too you live in Shreveport
I not trying to make you guys feel bad but my fishing partner caught 50 today by noon in PawPaws. Monkey Milk suspended in the creek channel.
