:hesaid beulah has some good fishing if you catch it just rite!
I have caught fish in Bolivar but nothing very big.
I would try Whittington IF the boat ramp is open !!! ONE of the best oxbow's off the river!!!

I dont think the public boat ramp is open anymore. But if you knew anyone that was a member of the outing club they have a nice boat ramp!
Whittington would be a better choice but Little Man's ramp is only open from like April until Oct and that's now always so. One year '11, I believe, it was closed all year. I wish the state would buy it and keep it open. I have caught a lot of fish there over the years.
People who bought it hunt the land it's on and don't want folks in there, that's the just of it. It sold few years back and they closed it completely but have gone to this plan now.
Yep deer hunting is serious business over here on the river! The amount of money some of these people spend just blows my mind!
I use to be a member of the old PO' BOY hunting club back in the 80's. We got bought out by some big money folks, and I've heard that it would take a million dollars for a membership now, not sure about that, but that's what I've heard. Best hunting I've ever seen for sure.
I have hunted PoBoy and Donaldson Point back in the day too. Both are out of my price range now. I haven't heard about the Concordia but I figured it should be close to that. There is a membership at Merigold now for 530K.
Hey man I don't want to hunt that bad....that's crazy. When I was in Poboy club the due's were $300 a year...lol. Me and another member had a trailer house there, and man I was there alot...lol I've killed a few deer and turkey on PoBoy, until a rattlesnake struck and hit the heel of my boot, and that's when I stopped turkey and squirrel hunting...lol
It was dangerous there I the hayday. My BIL would never wear orange hunting but he bought a full orange coveralls to hunt there. He belonged to POBoy but he and his buddy would always try to slip over to hunt Donaldson. Concordia bought PoBoy and his buddy bought some land in Donaldson and them they would try to slip over and hunt Concordia. Grass is always green on the other side. They were outlaws of the first order.
I also hunted PoBoy...A man named Bo Gibbens bought it years ago. I guess he still has it.
I can remember my dad had a membership at catfish point. I think it was $100 dollars a year and his brother was a manager for delta & pine and he had a free membership. boy there was some fun times had there. it is unreal what it cost to get now.
Yea I've hunted Donaldson Point too. I have a bil that has a place there, he also owns land in the middle of the DPHC, I can go hunt fish most any time with him, but I just never have. I'm to scared of them rattlesnakes to hunt there, but I may fish it.
I remember a Mr. Earp that leased the farm land at Po'Boy, you remember him? He had a man called Nubbin that worked for him, Nubbin had a hand missing, always had a old short cigar in his mouth. Nubbin had a daughter and grand son living with him in a old house in the middle of a field, crop dusters would just spray cotton poison right over the house too...lol
Yep, never had to worry about waking up...Nubbin would shoot a shotgun at the proper time..liked the way he bow hunted. had a shot barreled single shot 410, he would cut a shell, and take out the shot...stuck an arrow down on top of it....worked pretty well....
Where was Po Boy? I hunted Concordia from 92 to 2002.. was on slick head patrol. Considering step father only had two mempherships, 2 bucks and 7 does (buttons counted as a buck in early years) was the quota then per membership. Me and my brother filled many doe quotas for other members as well. Knew quite a few folks from Donaldson point also, can't remember many of the names. My step dads hand was an older gentleman went by the name of Hamm, he lived over in Gunnison east of the levee. Step dad started Concordia in 82 and sold out in 02 due to difference of opinion in the way it should have been ran. I certainly miss it, was great land with HUGE deer.. and agree hunting over there has priced the average man like myself way out.. it's a shame.

Ameil leased the land and had way...... to many memberships. I grew up with his grandchildren in Gunnison. Hunted Donaldson Point until 2010. Knew Nub-bee, I was told that as a child his arm went thru an old fashion washing machine (the cloths press) and he lost it.
Yep, people were as thick there as Grenada this week..I did take several deer there..mostly during bow season..waaay before compounds came out..
