Bundicks Friday

Well I had the day off so off to bundicks I went. Conditions were a little winder than I like but it was fishable. Ended the day with 32 total with the best one being 14" and 1.11 lbs. Nothing under 9" was kept and threw back at least as many as I kept. Didn't really have any one color that stood out. Fished 14 to 16 foot deep in 16 to 24 foot of water. Well I have caught 2 doubles in each of the last 3 trips I have made to bundicks but was only able to keep 3 out of the 12 fish. Out of the 2 doubles that I caught Friday, only 1 fish was a keeper. For those of you that are friends with me on facebook, I will post pictures there probably on Monday. There is normally only one or two other boats out there with me but Friday, there was 5 other trucks there when I got there. Don't know if it was b/c of my last bundicks post or not. It was not fast. I fished from about 7:30 to 2 PM. I did go check out a recreation camping area they have there and may look into getting a gathering there if we have some interested parties. Well enough rambling. See yall at Larto!!

Good report Dwayne. Great catch. Congratulations! And by the way, ain't nothing wrong with scrappers. My wife prefers the filets also, but every once in a while I will keep me 4-5 whole fryers. That was all I ever had a kid growing up in daddy's house. He never knew what a filet knife was. LOL.

Tal, if we get enough people interested, I am sure we can find you a ride. Might even be in my boat, just bring LOTS OF EXTRA JIG HEADS!!!!

It is a small lake SouthEast of Deridder.

Is Bundicks good for single pole guys or mostly for spider riggers?

Spider rigging is VERY DIFFICULT at Bundicks! JLauglin is the only one that I know that does it repeatedly with a lot of success. I am just getting into it but my best catches come holding 2 single rods, that was I was doing here but I did have one extra rod in the rod holder. There are a TON of hangups at Bundicks so if you go, be sure to bring plenty of extra jigs. As ole SneakyPete says...."Bundicks, that lake has a lead problem, of which I have contributed to"!

2 rods is what I would be trying. Sure looks doable as Google map says 2hr + 10min. While the days are short it would be nice driving while not missing the morning sunrise on the water.

How about duck hunters to deal with? I'm getting excited to try a new spot even for just one trip.

John, IF there are any duck hunters, it is usually the duck blind in the middle of the lake but I haven't seen them out there this year. I did see a bunch of ducks raft up out in the middle of the lake my last trip, first time I have seen that, and that was b/c there hasn't been any duck hunters! The biggest concern with that lake is the wind! You can still fish it with a wind but you almost have to tie up to the stumps. If you can go when the wind is very light (5 or under) that would be the best time to try it out.

Seems like that only happens when Dapet makes a video. :) Thanks for the info I'll watch for a calm day. Too far to go a lot, but would like to try it once for sure.

I went to Bundicks last sunday morning, I didn't get a bite. It was my first trip with my depth finder so i really don't know how to fish that place. And i had my 2 young boys with me so that's enough work in its self!!
