Got out yesterday to catch me some Bream. Water was muddy and moving so fast it was hard to stay with it. Got two nice bull's, then this strange thing!!

I don't know but catch one every so often myself. I just classify them as trash fish like a lot of other types of fish.
Green Carp!! :-)))))
I think they call that, bubba the large mouth gill, very recently I was surprised to hook one myself.
dang trash fish get in the way too often.
It's a green carp, we gottem here in Kansas. I throw them back because some folks consider them sacred.
There's a guy on here that calls them tomato fertilizer. Says they work real good.:biggrin
Those are my favorite kind of Gills!! When all the boats are around trying to weigh them in at the tournament, I hold it up as high as I can, scream a bunch and then throw them in the live well talking about how good they eat and watch those other guys go nuts!!!
Every time one of those come on board my boat they seem to slip and hit their head on their way out
Dinner! Thats what I call em.
When my son and I get out fishing for crappie and it a little slow we will give the old green carp a go... They're so easy to catch... We will catch about 20 or so to eat from time to time... We always put them on a stringer in the live well so we can remove them easy at the ramp... We like to ice them down if we're going to eat them... We leave the cooler at the truck... For some reason, some of the people in the big long bass boats with the big hp motors get real mad when they see all the green carp we put in the cooler... Sometimes they say we should not keep them... I think they get mad because they didn't catch any... I always offer them a few if they want some fish to eat... But so far no takers... They don't know what they are missing... They're a real good eating fish easy to catch... You can get a limit about any time you go fishing...
You guys or too much. Enjoyed your comments! I like them sauteed in mustard.
We catch them a lot in Florida, but never seen one that small before.

That is the kind of bream I used to chase! But they are too easy to catch or at least that is my story and I am sticking too it.
Some of us Long liners on the big G call them Green trout, because of the usual jumps and ensuing tangles!! We have not caught one in almost a year that did not have a torn or broken mouth from already being caught at least once, not sure there are any virgin big ones left in the lake not that I care...............Big green trout tournaments start next week end on the big G and will be one some where on it every weekend till mid May. Sure glad they don't have that many Crappie tournaments on the lake!! I have even heard there is a movement afoot to actually stock the big G with more green trout............wonder if they would be as concerned about the Crappie??
How do you catch big bream in the winter?
