Anyone had any luck with the Walleye at the spillway? Any reports?
I was down there a couple weeks ago. Nothing was biting at all.
Went this evening for a few hours. Threw multiple lures/jigs, and did nothing but accidentally snag buffalo. Walleye were not cooperating
fishing for walleye last fall we caught two cast nets,2 anchors,a 100 lures ,5000 yards of fishing line and a bungie system under the RR tressle .

have lots of pictures of walleye,muskie,crappie and bass but no pictures of cast nets, anchors or lures.
What are the odds on this catch?my son had a large muskie up to the boat,caught on a special painted spook.His friend tried to land it with boga grips but cut the line.Three weeks later my son and I were fishing down past the rr tressle and I saw what looked like a lure floating by as I was reeling my lure in. I just happen to catch the lure ,it was the same spook he lost 3 wks.ago.
last time down almost skunked one 4# walleye and two muskies.the water is at 1200 cfs
outflow up to 1800, look for them to kick it up even more when the river settles out some downstream.
I haven't fished the Spillway in 10 years. It is nice to see a few reports on the fishing under the spillway. What # test were you using to catch all those anchors and nets ?? lol.Do they still have decent Walleyes and Muskie fishing at the spillway ?
Yes they do at certain times of the year.
Used 6# but when hung up ,used home made lure retriever to save lures.We hooked the nets and anchor ropes with the retriever and pulled them free of the rocks .they were loaded with all kinds of lures and jigs . we didn't lose any of our lures by using the retriever and we were hung up a bunch of times.
Fished Carlyle spillway the other day without any success. Not even a bump! Guess the eyes haven't made the run yet?
Fished Saturday morning. One 12 incher on a minnow. That was it. Didn't see anything else caught.
Ichabod - can you post a pic of your lure retriever?
don't know how to post pic. used a large swivel eye trigger snap with 6 oz. of lead melted on it with3 solid link chains 7" long with with 6, 1/8" dia. brass hooks on the chains.used 40 ' of 1/8"rope to be able to break the fishing line you get snagged on.

I tryed the Walleye below the Carlyle Damn last Sunday. All I got was a dozen Asian Carp snagged. Fished from noon till dark. Tried a lot of different baits and night crawlers.
If you catch any of them carp in the mouth, KEEP them. They are delicious to eat! Cut the red meat off, run the filets through a meat grinder, and make some carp balls! Season the meat with Lowry's season salt before you run it through the grinder. Make balls, deep fry em in corn meal......OMG. GOOD!
