Those are so cool. Got two try that myself. :ThumbsUp
We get them form the theflyfishingstore in Mountain Home.Flyfishingarkansas.com.We fish them under a float.Float and fly method. The crappie really like them too.The Tour Guys are stocking up for Smallmouth here.
Looking good jackie. I need to get me a hand full them soon
Attachment 256163Attachment 256164Attachment 256165Attachment 256166 3/16 tungsten beads,#6 or#4 matzou black nickle sickle hook"Hooks very slick"slides over barb easly. We fish these under a float for trout and crappie.Hardly ever lose one catch a 100 trout on one jighead on a float trip. The small barbs of the matzou allows us to fish through barbless area's.We discovered they are very deadly on crappie.Where the leadhead hangs up on brush and rock's the tungsten slides right through. We have tried painted beads for some reason the non painted slides through the rocks and brush better than the painted.Good fishing. Jack.
You can also get slotted beads that really slid over the barb easy! You can even get them faceted. They come in sizes from 5/64 (2mm) up to 7/32" (5.5mm). Some non faceted beads from 1/16" (1.5mm) to the same large size 7/32".
You can also get the non faceted one is lots of colors, some just color or even FL colors, but also some Metallic colors as well.
However not cheap and I see packs of 10 or 20 depending one which ones. The packs of 20 are like $6 - $7. So not exactly low cost compared to lead heads! However don't need to paint them, but maybe cry a little if you loose may in snags, lol!

What do these beads weigh? I buy some chrome jig heads from Cabala's that are 1/16. Killer jigs but very costly.
You will have to convert these to Oz. weights! Will tell you the 7/32 Tungsten is close to 1/24 Oz.

Attachment 256646just discussing this on the bream gill page.i tie these for tipping with bait.i put the tung bead on a straight pin and lash it under the hook and butt against the hook eye forward of the eye.makes it hang horizontal below a float.tipped with bait below a float boobing in the waves.it does a nice little dance
skip-thanks for chart.the slotted beads weigh a little less from material removed for the slot.the smaller concentrated weight really gives them a different action
to make them cost effective you have to shop around and buy in bulk.some suppliers will let you buy different sizes and colors but you have to buy 100 beads.never understood why the smaller jigs 1/80 1/100 cost so much or used too any way.i have a 20 cavity 1/100 mold.made a few 100 in one day and never used it again.never needed to.
Thanks really like your fly/jigs.We fish them with Fly rod equipment and spinning equipment under a float.
with 2 -4 lb test line.Hardly ever lose one.Except to the" Hybrid striper's"LOL.The tungsten beads are not pure 100% tungsten. We use the 3/16 cast equivalent to a 1/32 or 1/24 oz leadhead. We stack them if need heavier weights. We buy them from the Theflyfishingstore."Mountain home ark by the hundred at a pretty good price.Good Fishing.
thanks - looking for a new source.i used to buy on the big auction site, many of these guys are buying from china.too many middle men and substitutions in colr size.i only tie for myself and family and often realize i am down to only 2 or 3 of something when i plan on making a couple dozen.now i understand about the small lead heads.i only molded them for myself so wasn,t too concerned if 1 was loose or not.love the tungsten myself.
