Well after sitting at the light in a busy intersection when my truck just started sliding from a complete stop with the brake on just because of a slight incline. I locked her in 4wd. Be safe out there!

You guys have more snow than we do. Supposed to be 9 degrees here tonight.
We had the 1st measurable snow of the new year Wednesday night. I-24 looked like a demolition derby Thursday morning. Folks were either running 30 mph or 70 mph. I think folks forget how to drive on it from year to year.
Well it got me a day off work, problem is I didn't go to deer camp last night cause figured it wouldn't do anything. So woke up this morning at 5am and wasn't willing to turn a 45 minute drive into 3 hours.. lol. I may try to leave this afternoon. If not I'm stuck in the house all day today and tomorrow. So yeah snow sucks in places were towns aren't equipped to deal with it. And the idiot drivers are scary, I went to the store earlier and had to put it in 4wd also, the idiots in 2wd cars and trucks flying all over the place, but was deterring them any..

I'm staying in until I need to get out. Only thing I can think of is 4 deliveries due today. One from UPS, FedX and 2 from USPS. May need to walk to the mailbox.
A trip to the bathroom this morning to hear a drip from somewhere. I turned on the light and started looking and listening. The drip is coming from the tub, nothing I can see. I planned to get dressed and crawl under the house. Turning around I moved the trashcan from the side of the tub. The drip stopped. It's the low battery warning on the magic lid can echoing in the tub. The lid opens with you get close to it. 4 new AA batteries and it's back to norm.
What snow! :Rofl
you guys would be in a world of hurt in Yankee land :Rofl
It was 1 here this morning. At least we had a temp. :yikesI can't wait till March to come see you fellas.
This is not funny, I'm supposed to be flying into Memphis Saturday morning. Get this stuff cleaned up before then.
No snow here but the roads were iced over real heavy south of town around 8 am. Surprised it's all melted off, temps still below freezing.

Caught this morn on Road Runner. Was a cool 65 degrees. I had to wear a shirt! It's 78 here now. T-shirt weather. No hint of snow.
For some reason or other, the Board of Supervisors bought 3 New snow plows (about a million) a couple of years ago. First time they tried them, they knocked up all the "Drunk Bumps". SO, the Tunica County roads are not impassible, but require 4 wheel drive (which most everybody has due to the MUD) to be safe. Meanwhile, I think the batteries are down on the snow plows or the operators didn't show up for work, so much for a million dollars worth of plows.... Go Figure!
I checked all the package tracking and a 5th package that was due next week. All turned over to the post office, all sitting at the post office. Notice on post office tracking, no deliveries due to bad weather. She's going to love delivering these since the lightest is 40# and 2 heavy ones at 68#.
I remember the snow storm of '85. I went to work in light snow without a problem. Our shop was away from the main shop and there were 3 of us working there. Instead of the boss coming to check on us he would call. Telling us each time to watch the weather, we never opened the door until time to head home. The next crew came in the rear door instead of the front doors. Snow had drifted about 7' on the front doors. Snow was drifted to the top of my car on the drivers side and had a hard time opening the passenger door. It was a 3 hour trip home instead of 20 minutes.
All you have to do is follow the $$. Find out who the plows were bought from. In my area they would be bought from a family member/friend of one of the commissioners.
Our state and county road departments used to wait until the snow was piled up so deep they couldn't get the plows out before they would consider trying to plow. Lately they have started pre-treating the roads with a liquid brine solution that makes the effects on the road less. They also don't wait as long to start trying to clear the snow/ice off. It's 5 degrees here this morning so anything on the road will stay there for a while.

Drain pipe? Just dig a trench and fill with sand.
A thought? If sandy soil in Florida, you can use a rototiller. Remove outer blades and let her go in the right direction. It will/may do most of the hard work for you. Or, be lazy like me and nicely ask a bunch friends to help.
Actually did something similar in the North Alabama clay. Didn't get quite as deep as I needed but made the job much simpler.
What would be the point. Its all sand here anyway.
And yes spaceman that would work. But I left the rototiller in Illinois. I know exactly where its at. About 1000 miles away. Maybe I just buy a new one. I was gonna rent a trencher. We'll see, have to wait for the back to get better before I can do anyrhing anyway.
And canebreaker, I was very surprised how fast sand can get saturated. And how fast the buckets of water can fall down here. Its like a hurricane sometimes, wait, what, it is!!!!
Just rent a trencher. Lots of fun keeping it straight. lol But very fast. Just make sure you call who ever you supposed to call before you dig. Don't want to cut through anything.
Looks like good fish habitat to me. Just drill some holes add weight and drop in the lake . The minnows and crayfish will enjoy their new home.:biggrin

He has 6 in pipe.......now watch the gewber go rent a 4 inch trencher
MrDux has it right. Southerners just don't know how to drive in snow. We also had some going 30 and some going 70. Saw only 29 wrecks on the way to work. At a stop light facing upgrade, people just spun out until they slid sideways and hit another vehicle. Fortunately, no road ragers. Its going to get above freezing this afternoon and the highways are clearing, so we're going to hit Ft. Cobb. The City put down tons of salt the last two days, so the vehicles are all white-speckled and streaked. Car wash businesses are VERY happy.
As you might guess by my handle, My origin is from Big Sky country. Y'all haven't lived until you catch big old slabs through the ice. The only time I remember that we got enough ice to fish here in Oklahoma was in '83 (or thereabouts). The crappie and walleye fishing was fantastic at Canton.
Your right about southerners not being able to drive in snow, but I was working in Iowa a couple of years ago and snowed 13". There was a car in the ditch AT LEAST every 3-400 yards. I guess a lot of southerners were passing through...lol.. I asked the local about it and they said the locals can't drive in snow either.
